Taylor Swift releases “The Life of a Showgirl” to much fanfare
Taylor Swift’s 12th studio album, “The Life of a Showgirl,” was released at midnight Friday to much anticipation from her fans.
Swift wrote and produced the album with Swedish producers Max Martin and Shellback while she was on the European leg of her record-breaking Eras Tour.
“I can’t tell you how proud I am to share this with you, an album that just feels so right,” Swift wrote in an Instagram post early Friday morning just after the album was released. “A forever thank you goes out to my mentors and friends Max and Shellback for helping me paint this self portrait. If you thought the big show was wild, perhaps you should come and take a look behind the curtain…The Life of a Showgirl is out now.”
The pop star announced the album, which has 12 tracks, in August on “New Heights,” the podcast hosted by her fiancé, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, and his brother, former Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce.
Swift, Martin and Shellback have written several of Swift’s past hits, including “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,” “Blank Space” and “Shake It Off,” but this is the first album to only feature their collaborations.
“We knew that we had to bring the best ideas we’ve ever had,” Swift said about working with Martin and Shellback when she announced the album.
In celebration of the new music, a nearly 90-minute show, “The Official Release Party of a Showgirl,” will play at AMC Theatres nationwide Friday through Sunday.
The show includes the premiere of a music video for the album’s first track, “The Fate of Ophelia,” behind-the-scenes footage from the filming of the music video, stories behind each song and lyric videos, Swift said.
“Looks like it’s time to brush off that Eras Tour outfit or orange cardigan,” Swift wrote on social media announcing the show. “Dancing is optional but very much encouraged.”
“The Life of a Showgirl” became the most pre-saved album in Spotify history, the streaming service said on Sept. 1. The last release to set that record was Swift’s 11th studio album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” which came out in April 2024.

James Gun confesses he had doubts making 2025 ‘Superman’
Superman director James Gunn has revealed that he was having second thoughts before making the action sci-fi.
The 2025 blockbuster featured David Corenswet as Clark Kent. Meanwhile Nicholas Hoult played villain Lex Luthor in the film.
The DC CEO admitted that directing the 2025’s Superman was the hardest projects of his entire career before the first Guardians of the Galaxy film.
He highlighted the difference between the making of these two movies.
The director shared, “With Guardians, you were building a corner of the universe that felt completely different from everything else Marvel was doing at the time.”
Meanwhile, people have a specific image about Superman. Therefore, James had to be more conscious while directing the film.
He said on the Variety’s Awards Circuit Podcast, “Everyone in the world thinks something different about Superman. Everybody knows who he is.”
According to the 59-year-old filmmaker, the fact that all eyes were on DCU, that created a real pressure.
He further added, “If I couldn’t find Superman, I wasn’t going to make the movie. I remember thinking [after Corenswet’s audition], ‘If that’s the worst we do, we’re in great shape.”
Following the success of the 2025 film, Gunn confirmed the new sequel titled Man of Tomorrow that will also be led by David.

SpaceX reports big drop in Starlink satellite de-orbits in 2025
Elon Musk’s aerospace firm SpaceX has reported that the number of Starlink satellites de-orbited at the end of 2025 declined substantially, dropping from around 500 to approximately 200.
This massive drop in de-orbited Starlink satellites was highlighted in the company’s latest semi-annual report it submitted to the FCC, indicating the successful retirement of many older Starlink satellites.
Usually, a Starlink satellite has a lifespan of five years before de-orbiting, during which it is designed to completely burn up upon re-entry into the atmosphere.
It must be noted that Starlink satellites can also be retired early due to malfunctions or hardware flaws.
The Starlink constellation, which consists of over 10,000 satellites, experienced a surge in burn-ups last year, with SpaceX de-orbiting as many as four to five satellites daily, said astronomer and satellite tracker Jonathan McDowell.
From December 2024 to May 2025, SpaceX de-orbited 472 satellites, but this number dropped to just 218 from June to November.
Most of the de-orbited 167 satellites belonged to the first-generation Starlink constellation, which began serving customers over five years ago. The remainder came from the second-generation constellation.
McDowell confirmed that SpaceX has “largely completed the mass retirement of the older satellites,” although the reentry rate remains high compared to 2023, reflecting SpaceX’s efforts to manage its expanding satellite fleet.
