King Charles and Queen Camilla wish Princess Kate a happy birthday

Today marks the future queen’s first cancer-free birthday

It’s a very special day at the Royal Family household as Princess Kate marks her 44th birthday today.

The Princess of Wales is celebrating her big day on Friday, January 9, with private celebrations expected to be underway. Meanwhile, King Charles and Queen Camilla have led the family in wishing the future queen with a very special message.

“Wishing a Happy Birthday to The Princess of Wales!” read a message, accompanied by a stunning picture of Kate from her milestone visit to Colchester Hospital in Essex, England, back in July.

The message, which also included a birthday cake emoji, was shared on the Royal Family’s official Instagram page run by Buckingham Palace.

More wishes are expected to come soon, as it is tradition for the monarch to lead the tributes. Catherine’s husband, Prince William, is expected to make a very personal and heartfelt public wish to Kate as he does every year.

In fact, the Prince of Wales’ wish this year will likely carry extra emotional weight as Kate is celebrating her first cancer-free birthday since announcing her remission in February last year.

Ella Purnell teases Lucy’s dark turn in ‘Fallout’ season 2

Ella Purnell teases Lucy’s dark turn in ‘Fallout’ season 2

Ella Purnell teases Lucy’s dark turn in ‘Fallout’ season 2

Ella Purnell says fans of Fallout will see a shocking new side of Lucy MacLean in Season 2.

Speaking with Deadline about the episode titled The Demon in the Snow, now streaming on Prime Video, Purnell revealed she loved getting to explore Lucy’s more dangerous side during a drug-fueled sequence that temporarily removes the character’s fear of violence.

“I couldn’t believe it. I felt so scandalous. Coming from any other character, you’d be like, ‘Yeah, it’s just Fallout,’ but just something about it being Lucy, it feels scandalous. I couldn’t believe it. It’s like when you’re like little sister goes out and gets a little wild—it’s crazy,” she said.

“Very fun to see that side of her, to play that side of her, and also, a new experience for me. I haven’t done that a lot in my career. I didn’t know how it was gonna turn out. It turned out good, thank God, I think.”

Lucy’s violent shift happens after she receives a life-saving Buffout steroid drip following a near-death experience in the previous episode. Under the drug’s influence, her usual moral compass disappears, leading to a deadly — and comedic — killing spree.

“But yeah, very fun to play a side of Lucy that is fearless for once,” Purnell added. “But to play a character who truly doesn’t conceive the notion of death for just five minutes of the day… it changes all the tension in the scene… and I get to play with some comedy in there, it was really fun.”

Purnell also addressed switching between Lucy and her other role, serial killer Rhiannon Lewis in Sweetpea.

“It’s a weird switch to make actually,” she said. “I’m like, ‘Rhiannon would do that in a heartbeat.’”

Leonardo DiCaprio, Gwyneth Paltrow reunite at AFI Awards

Leonardo DiCaprio and Gwyneth Paltrow were photographed together again — nearly 30 years after she once turned him down.

The Oscar-winning actor, 51, and the Goop founder, 53, reunited at the AFI Awards held at the Four Seasons Hotel Los Angeles at Beverly Hills on January 9. The two Hollywood stars smiled as they posed side by side for cameras.

Their reunion comes years after Paltrow spoke candidly about their past on the Call Her Daddy podcast in May 2023. While discussing her dating history, she revealed that DiCaprio had asked her out when they were younger.

“Nope, never made out with Leo,” Paltrow said. “He tried back in the day. But he was already like, you know, he was very loose with the goods from when he was 19.”

Although she did not specify her age at the time, a February 1994 photo of the pair at the National Board of Review Motion Picture Awards places Paltrow at around 21 and DiCaprio at 19.

Today, Paltrow is married to American Horror Story co-creator Brad Falchuk. The couple tied the knot in 2018. She also shares two children — Apple, 21, and Moses, 18 — with ex-husband Chris Martin.

Reflecting on their post-divorce relationship, she told Drew Barrymore in 2020, “In a way, my relationship with Chris is better 1768029041. So, I do think that it can be done.”

She added, “I really wanted my kids to not be traumatised if it were possible. Chris and I committed to putting them first, and that’s harder than it looks.”

DiCaprio is currently dating Italian model Vittoria Ceretti, 27. The couple, first linked in August 2023, recently rang in the New Year in St. Barths with Tom Brady.

Speaking to Vogue France in April 2025, Ceretti said dating DiCaprio is “something you learn.”

“If what you’re experiencing is real, if you know you love each other, then there’s no reason to be alarmed,” she said. “Because love protects and gives confidence.”

  • Six khwarij gunned down in North Waziristan, says ISPR.
  • Five terrorists killed in Kurram IBO: military’s media wing.
  • Adds sanitisation continues to hunt remaining militants.

RAWALPINDI: Security forces neutralised 11 terrorists belonging to India proxy Fitna al-Khawarij during two separate intelligence-based operations (IBOs) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Saturday.

The operations were conducted in North Waziristan and Kurram districts on January 8, a press release issued by the military’s media wing said.

“On January 8, 2026, eleven khwarij belonging to India proxy Fitna al-Khawarij were killed in two separate engagements in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province,” the ISPR added.

It said that on the reported presence of khwarij, an intelligence-based operation was conducted by the security forces in the North Waziristan district.

“During the conduct of the operation, troops effectively engaged the khwarij location, and after an intense fire exchange, six khwarij were sent to hell,” the ISPR press release stated.

In a separate engagement, the military’s media wing said five khwarij were effectively neutralised by police and security forces in Kurram district.

“Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from killed India-sponsored khwarij, who remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities against the security forces, law enforcement agencies, and target killing of innocent civilians,” the ISPR said.

“Sanitisation operations are being conducted to eliminate any other India-sponsored kharji found in the area as a relentless counter terrorism campaign under vision “Azm e Istehkam” will continue at full pace to wipe out the menace of foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism from the country,” it added.

Pakistan has experienced a rise in cross-border terrorist incidents since the Taliban regained control of Afghanistan in 2021. The provinces of KP and Balochistan, which border Afghanistan, have been particularly affected by these attacks.

ISPR Director General Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, in his presser on January 6, said that law enforcement agencies carried out 75,175 IBOs across the country in 2025.

Giving a breakdown, he said 14,658 IBOs were conducted in KP, 58,778 in Balochistan, while 1,739 operations took place in the rest of the country.

Lt Gen Chaudhry said that 5,397 terrorism incidents were reported nationwide during the last year. Of these, 3,811 incidents, he said, occurred in KP, 1,557 in Balochistan, and 29 incidents were reported in other parts of the country.

He said that 2,597 terrorists were killed during counterterror operations last year. While providing details of 10 major terror attacks across the country, he said that civilians and soft targets had been deliberately targeted, and Afghan militants were involved in all attacks.
