Colorado adds mobile bathroom near team bench for season opener after Deion Sanders’ bladder cancer treatment

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!
Colorado football’s third season under head coach Deion Sanders got off to a strong start Friday night in Boulder. The Buffaloes’ defense recovered two fumbles and intercepted Georgia Tech quarterback Haynes King in the first quarter.
But much of the pregame attention centered on Sanders’ health. In July, Sanders announced doctors had removed his bladder following the discovery of a tumor. The Pro Football Hall of Famer added that there has been no evidence of cancer since the surgery.
Coach Prime returned to the sideline on Friday, but he will not have to go far if he needs privacy.

Folsom Field now features a mobile bathroom near the Buffaloes’ bench. The portable privacy tent is presented by Depend, an adult undergarment company Sanders has partnered with.
“I wasn’t joking! I truly DEPEND on Depend. Ain’t NO SHAME in taking care of yourself. NO SHAME in getting health screenings. And there certainly ain’t NO SHAME in needing added protection or using Depend to stay in the game. That’s not weakness – that’s WINNING,” Sanders wrote on X last week.

Depend replied: “No shame at all! We’re proud to help you stay in the game, Coach Prime.”

Doctors said a section of Sanders’ intestine was reconstructed to function as a bladder.
Sanders faced questions about whether he’d be up for coaching after his health scare. But during a timeout in the second quarter of Thursday’s game, Sanders appeared energized as he engaged in an animated exchange with coaches and players.
During a sitdown with three-time Super Bowl winner Michael Irvin in July, Sanders mentioned he might need the assistance of a “Porta Potty” during football games.
“I know I got halftime, but can I make it through a game?” Sanders asked his former Dallas Cowboys teammate. “What if there’s a long quarter? OK, so I start thinking I gotta get a Porta Potty for the sideline.”

While Sanders faced health challenges away from the field over the offseason, he will now be tasked with navigating his first season without his sons, Shedeur and Shilo Sanders. Quarterback Shedeur is a rookie with the Cleveland Browns, while Shilo, a safety, was waived by the Tampa Buccaneers last week.
After going 4-8 in Sanders’ first year at the helm, Colorado won nine games in 2024, and qualified for a bowl game.

Shedeur Sanders confident in Colorado despite crushing loss: ‘They have a great head coach’

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!
Former Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders shared his confidence in his former collegiate team despite suffering their first loss of the season against Georgia Tech.
The Buffaloes lost to the Yellow Jackets, 27-20, as Haynes King put together the game-winning drive in the fourth quarter. King scored on a 45-yard run with 1:07 left in the fourth quarter. Colorado failed to put together the equalizing touchdown in the last moments.

It was the team’s first game without Sanders and Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter. Both players entered the NFL Draft after last season.
Sanders was still confident the team will figure it out, especially since his father, Deion, is the head coach.
“They’ll figure things out. They have a great head coach,” he wrote on X.

Deion Sanders hasn’t been without his quarterbacking son for any of his collegiate coaching career. They were together at Jackson State and at Colorado once he took the Buffaloes’ job.
“Coach Prime” named Kaidon Salter the starting quarterback to start the year. He had 159 passing yards and a touchdown pass to Dekalon Taylor in the loss.
Sanders said the team will be fine despite the loss.

“We could’ve won the game. It’s not like we had our butts kicked,” he said. “They ran the heck out of the ball. If we take advantage of the opportunities, I have a whole different mood up here right now.”

Dave Portnoy leans into Ohio State drama with disguise, ‘I Love Ryan Day’ hat

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!
Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy will make his “Big Noon Kickoff” debut on Saturday ahead of Ohio State and Texas’ marquee matchup to begin the 2025 college football season.
Portnoy’s debut came with much fanfare ahead of the game. Portnoy, a Michigan Wolverines superfan, said earlier in the week he was “banned” from Ohio Stadium, suggesting it may have been because of his fervent support for the maize and blue.

Ohio State, instead, said Portnoy wasn’t banned from the stadium. He was not a part of the main desk crew for FOX. The crew would be the only ones allowed into the stadium.
Portnoy appeared on “Fox and Friends” outside Ohio Stadium on Saturday and leaned into the drama, wearing a disguise.
“Well what happened was … I got banned by coach Ryan Day from entering ‘The Shoe.’ There’s a lot of animosity and a lot of hate because I’ve been a Michigan truther since we’ve beat the crap out of them the last five years. And all we’ve heard is excuses out of Ohio nation. So, Ryan Day is so butthurt by me, he banned me from going into the stadium,” Portnoy, who was wearing a fake mustache and an “I Love Ryan Day” hat told Fox News Channel’s Will Cain. “I’m not allowed in ‘The Shoe’ today.”
