Maaz’s brilliance helps Pakistan thump India in Asia Cup Rising Stars
Maaz Sadaqat starred with an unbeaten 79 as Pakistan Shaheens defeated India A in their group stage game of the ACC Men’s Asia Cup Rising Stars at the West End Park International Cricket Stadium, Doha, on Sunday.
Pakistan chased down 137 with eight wickets in hand to top Group B and qualify for the semifinal of the ongoing tournament.
Pakistan got off to a strong start as openers Maaz Sadaqat and Mohammad Naeem scored freely, putting early pressure on the Indian bowlers.
Sadaqat was in sublime form, finding the boundaries regularly and helping the openers reach 50 runs by the fifth over.
The 56-run partnership was broken in the sixth over when Yash Thakur dismissed Naeem, who scored 14 off 10 balls, including a four and a six.
Sadaqat continued his fine form, registering back-to-back fifties in the tournament and anchoring the innings as Pakistan reached 77-1 in seven overs.
Yasir Khan joined Sadaqat at the crease and began scoring, but India fought back, claiming his wicket after 11 runs off nine balls, which included two boundaries.
Mohammad Faiq then joined Sadaqat as Pakistan passed the 100-run mark in the 10th over, steadily inching closer to their second win of the tournament.
Sadaqat continued to dominate, hitting consecutive boundaries alongside Faiq, as Pakistan raced to 130-2 in 13 overs.
The green shirts chased down the total in the 14th over, with Sadaqat unbeaten on 79 off 47 deliveries with the help of seven fours and four sixes. Faiq finished the game with a six, scoring 16 from 14 balls.
After being asked to bat first, India got off to an aggressive start as opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi attacked the Pakistan bowlers from the very first ball, hitting multiple boundaries.
However, Shahid Aziz provided an early breakthrough, dismissing Priyansh Arya for 10 runs off nine balls, leaving India at 30-1 in 3.2 overs.
Naman Dhir joined Suryavanshi and stabilised the innings, guiding the team past the 50-run mark in the sixth over. The duo maintained an attacking approach, piling on runs and keeping Pakistan under pressure.
Their partnership ended when Saad Masood dismissed Naman for 35 off 20 balls, which included six fours and a six, leaving India at 79-2 in 8.4 overs.
Suryavanshi continued to dominate, looking set for a half-century, but was eventually dismissed by Sufiyan Muqeem for 45 off 28 balls, featuring five fours and three sixes.
India’s skipper, Jitesh Sharma, fell cheaply for five off nine deliveries to Maaz Sadaqat, leaving the side at 101-4 in 12.1 overs.
The momentum shifted decisively in Pakistan’s favour as wickets fell at regular intervals. Saad Masood removed Ashutosh Sharma for a duck, followed by Maaz Sadaqat dismissing Nehal Wadhera for eight, leaving India reeling at 104-6 in 14.1 overs.
Ubaid Shah picked up Ramandeep Singh (11 off nine, including a six), while Harsh Dubey tried to add crucial runs.
However, wickets continued to tumble as Ahmed Daniyal dismissed Yash Thakur (2 off 4), Shahid Aziz claimed Dubey (19 off 15), and Suyash Sharma fell for a duck, completing India’s collapse at 136 in 19 overs.
For Pakistan Shaheens, Shahid Aziz starred with figures of 3/24 in three overs. Maaz Sadaqat and Saad Masood claimed two wickets each, while Ubaid Shah, Ahmed Daniyal, and Sufiyan Muqeem chipped in with a wicket apiece.

Two top NFL stars butted heads during their game on Sunday afternoon and one of them was forced to leave the game early.
Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Jalen Ramsey and Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase got into an altercation in the fourth quarter of their AFC North matchup. The two stood nose-to-nose on the field when the Steelers player grabbed onto Chase’s facemask, jerked his head and appeared to punch him.

NFL officials were watching the incident closely as a flag was thrown. Players from both teams congregated around Ramsey and Chase. The wide receiver was hot and had to be held back from escalating the incident any further.
The CBS broadcast also showed an earlier incident between Chase and Ramsey. The two players appeared to grab each other’s facemasks before their bad blood boiled over.

Ramsey had four tackles and a pass breakup before he was thrown out. Pittsburgh was leading 20-9 at the time.
Ramsey, a seven-time Pro Bowler and Super Bowl champion, was traded to the Steelers from the Miami Dolphins in the offseason. He’s played in nine games for the Steelers coming into the matchup against the Bengals. He has 43 tackles, an interception and two sacks this season.

Chase, despite playing with backup quarterbacks this season, had an NFL-leading 76 catches going into the Steelers game. He has 831 receiving yards and five touchdowns.

New York Jets cornerback Kris Boyd was wounded in a shooting in New York City early Sunday morning, according to multiple reports.
According to the New York City Police Department, shots were fired around 2 a.m. along West 38th street. Responding officers found a 29-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound in the abdomen.
The victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital, and listed in critical condition, authorities said.
The New York Post first reported that Boyd was the victim. Authorities did not immediately name Boyd as the victim.

“We are aware of the situation involving Kris Boyd and will have no further comment at this time,” the Jets said in a statement Sunday afternoon.
ANTONIO BROWN PLEADS NOT GUILTY TO MIAMI ATTEMPTED MURDER CHARGE
Ernest Quander, one of Boyd’s friends, gave an update on Boyd’s health to the New York Post.
“He’s all good right now. He’s in good condition. He’s doing real good,” Quander told the outlet.
The shooting reportedly stemmed from a dispute outside Sei Less restaurant. The suspected gunman fired multiple rounds, the New York Post reported, citing law enforcement sources.

No arrests have been made, and the investigation remains active.
Fox News Digital reached out to Boyd’s agent for comment.

The Minnesota Vikings selected Boyd in the seventh round of the 2019 NFL Draft. He spent his first four NFL seasons with the Vikings, before joining the Arizona Cardinals in 2023. He had a one-year stint with the Houston Texans and then signed with the Jets in March.
He has not appeared in any regular season games in 2025 and his roster designation is currently listed as injured reserve.

NBA obtaining cell phones from Lakers, other teams in investigation into illegal gambling scheme: report

The NBA is reportedly seeking cell phones and other property from multiple teams as part of its investigation into illegal sports gambling.
Los Angeles Lakers assistant trainer Mike Mancias and executive administrator Randy Mims, who each have close ties to superstar LeBron James, have reportedly already cooperated in handing over their cell phones to the outside law firm Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz, which has been contracted by the NBA to help carry out the investigation, The Athletic first reported.

“The NBA engaged an independent law firm to investigate the allegations in the indictment once it was made public,” an NBA spokesman said in a statement to Fox News Digital on Sunday. “As is standard in these kinds of investigations, a number of different individuals and organizations were asked to preserve documents and records. Everyone has been fully cooperative.”
Fox News Digital reached out to the Lakers for comment.
The NBA is in the midst of handling a bombshell scandal that resulted in the federal indictment of Portland Trail Blazers coach Chauncey Billups, Miami Heat guard Terry Rozier and former NBA player and coach Damon Jones for their alleged roles in a criminal gambling scheme, last month.
Congress got involved when the House Committee on Commerce Friday sent a letter to NBA Commissioner Adam Silver requesting information and a briefing to obtain information related to the scandal. The bipartisan letter was signed by six members of Congress on the House Committee on Energy and Commerce.
The committee is seeking five key points of information from Silver:
“1. Details about the fraudulent, illegal, and alleged betting practices in connection with NBA players, coaches, and officials, including the actions of NBA players and coaches identified in the recent indictment; as well as prior instances, some of which are identified above,” the letter states.
“2. Actions the NBA intends to take to limit the disclosure of nonpublic information for illegal purposes. 3. Whether the NBA’s Code of Conduct for players and coaches effectively prohibits illegal activity, including the disclosure of non-public information for the purposes of illegal betting schemes. 4. An explanation of the gaps, if any, in existing regulations that allow illegal betting schemes to occur. 5. Whether and how the NBA is reevaluating the terms of its partnerships with sports betting companies.”
The letter also references comments made by Silver during an appearance Tuesday on ESPN’s “The Pat McAfee Show,” where the commissioner expressed support for more federal sports betting regulation.
“I think, probably, there should be more regulation, frankly,” Silver said. “I wish there was federal legislation rather than state by state. I think you’ve got to monitor the amount of promotion, the amount of advertising around it.”
The Department of Justice listed seven NBA games that saw high-stakes wagers after non-public information was disclosed to gamblers.
Rozier’s alleged involvement came in a game March 23, 2023, when he told a childhood friend, Deniro Laster, that he would take himself out of a game early, citing an injury, so Laster could place wagers based on the information. Neither Hornets officials nor betting companies were made aware of Rozier’s plan, according to the indictment, and Rozier was not listed on the team’s injury report.
HEAT’S TERRY ROZIER ARRESTED AS PART OF FBI SPORTS BETTING PROBE
Laster then allegedly sold that information to other co-conspirators, and numerous people placed wagers totaling roughly $200,000 on Rozier’s “under” prop bets to hit in both parlay and straight wagers. After Rozier played just nine minutes and never returned, the bets won. Rozier and Laster counted cash winnings at Rozier’s home in Charlotte roughly a week later, an indictment says.
The DOJ says the player was eventually ruled out with a lower-body injury. LeBron James did not play that night due to an ankle injury that kept him out for two more games. The game in question was played two days after James scored 38 points to become the NBA’s all-time leading scorer.
Another game the DOJ mentioned was a Portland Trail Blazers–Chicago Bulls matchup March 24, 2023, the day after Rozier played nine minutes, and a co-conspirator, “an NBA coach at the time,” allegedly told a longtime friend, who is also a defendant in the rigged poker scheme, that the Blazers would be “tanking” that night for a better draft pick and would sit some of the team’s best players. The resting of the players had not yet been public information.

Rozier and Jones were charged with conspiracy to commit wire fraud and conspiracy to commit money laundering. The NBA announced that Rozier and Billups were placed on immediate leave from their teams, “and we will continue to cooperate with the relevant authorities.”
“The integrity of our game remains our top priority,” the NBA said.
