The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Monday imposed a fine of Rs20 million on fast bowler Naseem Shah for breaching various clauses of his central contract through a social media post.
In a statement issued today, the board said that it had issued a show-cause notice on March 27 outlining the violations and sought a response from Shah.
“A personal hearing was then held by a three-member disciplinary committee after Shah’s reply had been received and reviewed,” the statement read.
The PCB noted that, following an unconditional apology tendered by Shah, he was found to have breached several clauses of his central contract, leading to the imposition of a fine of Rs20 million.
The statement further mentioned that Shah’s social media adviser had already been terminated and would be blacklisted, preventing them from working with any players under the PCB’s jurisdiction.
The PCB reiterated its commitment to upholding standards of conduct for players and officials, particularly concerning their behaviour on social media platforms.
