South India yarn trade steady; India–EU FTA seen boosting demand
In the Mumbai market, cotton yarn prices hovered near previous levels, while fabric demand improved in the western region of the country. A Mumbai-based trader told Fibre*Fashion, “Buyers were cautious about fresh purchases after last week’s price rise. However, cotton yarn demand will pick up in the coming weeks due to seasonal factors. The India–EU trade deal will also boost cotton yarn demand, but this will happen after a few months, as the FTA will come into effect only after formal approval and implementation. Both sides are likely to take a few months to complete this process.”
