Sensex Today: Indian equity benchmarks are expected to start on a negative note on Wednesday, tracking subdued global sentiment as investors digest discussions between US President Donald Trump, Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and European leaders.
At 8:10 AM, GIFT Nifty futures were trading at 24,960, down 3 points.
Global Cues
Asian markets were trading lower on Tuesday, following overnight weakness on Wall Street. Japan’s Nikkei 225 was down 0.14%, while South Korea’s KOSPI slipped 0.54%.
After his White House meeting, Zelensky signaled readiness to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin directly in a bid to end the conflict.
In the US, equity markets ended largely flat as investors awaited major retail earnings and Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell’s speech at the annual Jackson Hole summit. The S&P 500 closed marginally lower, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average dipped 0.07%.
