Tech-ready textiles: Govt nod for Rs 305 cr Tex-RAMPS; research & innovation get major push – The Times of India
India’s textiles sector is set for a research and innovation lift with the government approving the Rs 305 crore Tex-RAMPS scheme, the textiles ministry said on Thursday, as reported by PTI. The initiative will run from 2025 to 2031 as a fully funded Central Sector Scheme.According to the ministry, the Textiles Focused Research, Assessment, Monitoring, Planning and Start-up (Tex-RAMPS) plan is aligned with the next Finance Commission cycle and aims to plug gaps in research, data systems, innovation support, and capacity building.Textiles Minister Giriraj Singh said the scheme “brings together research, data, and innovation to empower India’s textile sector and position the nation as a global leader in sustainability, technology, and competitiveness,”The ministry added that Tex-RAMPS is designed to “future-proof India’s textiles and apparel ecosystem” through targeted support to innovation-led growth.
