US import prices up 0.4% MoM, down 0.2% YoY in Jul 2025: BLS
Prices for non-fuel imports advanced by 0.3 per cent MoM in July following a decrease of 0.3 per cent MoM in June. Such prices increased by 0.9 per cent YoY in July 2025 and have not declined on a YoY basis since a 0.6-per cent decrease in February 2024.
US import prices increased by 0.4 per cent month on month (MoM) in July following a 0.1-per cent MoM decrease in June.
Higher prices for non-fuel and fuel imports drove the MoM rise.
Import prices dropped by 0.2 per cent YoY in July.
Prices for US exports rose by 0.1 per cent MoM in July after increasing by 0.5 per cent MoM the previous month.
Such prices advanced by 2.2 per cent YoY in the month.
Prices for the major finished goods import categories were mostly up in July. Import prices for consumer goods increased by 0.4 per cent MoM in July—the largest MoM rise since February 2024. Higher prices for apparel, footwear and household goods contributed to this rise.
Prices for US exports rose by 0.1 per cent MoM in July after increasing by 0.5 per cent MoM the previous month. Higher prices for non-agricultural exports drove the July MoM increase. Such prices advanced by 2.2 per cent YoY in the month, a BLS release said.
Prices for the major finished goods export categories were up in July.
