KP CM Sohail Afridi signals readiness to hold talks with establishment on provincial issues

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi talking to media representatives outside Adiala jail, Rawalpindi, December 11, 2025. — NNI
  • CM Afridi says he will meet Field Marshal Asim Munir.
  • Calls for the supremacy of the Constitution and law.
  • Admits to using inappropriate language in Lahore.

In a positive development, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has said he is ready to hold talks with the establishment on provincial matters and improve relations, adding that policies should be framed in line with the public interest.

Speaking to journalists in Peshawar on Friday, the provincial chief executive said the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founding chairman Imran Khan had not instructed him on anything regarding talks with the establishment.

At the same time, he clarified that the former prime minister had assigned the task to Mahmood Khan Achakzai and Allama Raja Nasir Abbas.

He said that if any ceremony or meeting takes place, he would definitely meet Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.

Afridi said there should be supremacy of the Constitution and the law in the country, adding that for talks regarding Imran Khan’s release, the conditions and environment should be conducive.

He said it is legitimate for the PTI founder’s sisters to come out and campaign for their brother’s release, adding that their purpose in going to Karachi is to mobilise the public for the PTI founder’s release.

The chief minister also admitted that during his visit to Lahore, he used inappropriate language, but said it was a reaction to an action, adding that he had apologised for using such language during the visit.

On Friday, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah, speaking on Geo News programme ‘Naya Pakistan’, said it was impossible for Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to table a dialogue offer to the PTI without first consulting Nawaz Sharif or the establishment.

He also expressed doubts about the success of any talks, saying dialogue would fail unless the PTI founder supports it, and cited Imran’s sister Aleema Khan as saying anyone holding talks would not be from the party.

Earlier this week, Punjab Assembly Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan recommended legal action over the chaos that erupted during the arrival of CM Afridi at the provincial legislature’s building.

He said a committee report found individuals accompanying him entered the provincial assembly without proper authorisation and scuffled with security staff.

The report came a day after Afridi wrote to Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz to protest alleged ill-treatment during his visit to the Punjab Assembly.

One day after Victoria breathed her last on Thursday, January 1, at the young age of 34, her family broke their silence in a statement to People.

“We appreciate all of the kind words, thoughts, and prayers,” the family addressed the plethora of messages they have been receiving from their supporters.

“Please respect our privacy during this difficult time. Thank you,” they added on Friday, January 2.

For the unversed, the daughter of the Men in Black star and his ex-wife Kimberlea Cloughley was found unresponsive early on the first day of 2026 at the San Francisco Fairmont Hotel and pronounced dead at the scene after the first responders arrived.

Tommy Lee Jones’ daughter Victoria’s cause of death?

Although no official cause of death has been released and authorities have stated there are no signs of foul play, new details have emerged following Victoria’s death.

Does Zara Larsson ‘have a Grammys speech prepared’?

Does Zara Larsson ‘have a Grammys speech prepared’?

Zara Larsson on Grammys speech: ‘I haven’t really prepared a speech’

Zara Larsson is still wrapping her head around a milestone moment in her career, and she’s being refreshingly honest about what comes next.

After her studio album Midnight Sun earned critical acclaim following its September release, its viral title track went on to secure a Grammy nomination for Best Dance Pop Recording at the 2026 ceremony.

It marks Larsson’s first-ever nod from the Recording Academy, a moment she describes as both surreal and deeply validating.

As excitement builds around the nomination, the Swedish pop star is already imagining what it might feel like to be in the room on music’s biggest night.

But when it comes to having a Grammys acceptance speech ready, Larsson says she’s taking a very human approach.

“I haven’t really prepared a speech, like, word for word,” she shared during a recent conversation with PEOPLE. Instead, she’s been picturing the emotional weight of the moment, not the exact words she’d say.

Larsson admitted she’s never attended the Grammys before, which adds to the mystery. She doesn’t know where she’ll sit, what the stage looks like, or even what she’ll wear.

What she does know is that if she were to prepare anything, gratitude would come first.

She wants to acknowledge the many people who helped bring Midnight Sun to life, calling it “like a whole village, basically, that makes the dream come true.”

Still, Larsson isn’t putting pressure on herself to be polished or perfect.

“But I think I will just take it in. The words don’t matter that much,” she said candidly.

Then, in true Zara fashion, she joked, “What if I just go up and f—ing laugh for two minutes? People are like, ‘Should we call someone?’ Like, f—.”

Whether the win happens this year or later down the line, Larsson is certain of one thing.

“I think it’s going to be f—ing crazy if it happens — or when it happens. One day it will happen, period.”

For now, the nomination itself is a powerful moment, signaling that Midnight Sun has truly connected—and that Zara Larsson’s long-held Grammy dream is closer than ever.
