Dar reaffirms Pakistan’s commitment to deepen ties with brotherly nations
- DPM holds “meaningful interaction” with FMs of Egypt and Algeria.
- FMs of Pakistan, Egypt and Algeria discuss Palestine in Jeddah.
- Dar reiterates Pakistan’s strong condemnation of Israel.
Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Tuesday reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to deepening ties with North African nations, including Algeria and Egypt, through enhanced connectivity and expanded cooperation across diverse fields.
The deputy premier made the remarks during a “meaningful interaction” with his Egyptian counterpart Badr Abdelatty and Algerian FM Ahmed Attaf on the sidelines of 21st extraordinary session of the Council of Foreign Minister of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
In the meeting, they discussed the grave situation in Palestine, stressing the urgent need for humanitarian access, a ceasefire, and lasting peace. The FMs underscored the importance of unity within the Muslim Ummah in these challenging times.
Dar landed in Jeddah on a two-day official visit yesterday, where he spoke on Israel’s ongoing Gaza onslaught during the 21st extraordinary session of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation’s (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers.
DPM Dar on Monday reiterated Pakistan’s strong condemnation of Israel’s highly escalatory and dangerous statements over Palestinian land.
He said the brazen audacity of the so-called Israeli cabinet, in unveiling its ominous plan to extend Israel’s full military control over Gaza, as well as the Israeli prime minister’s recent allusion to the creation of a “Greater Israel”, provided an insight into Israel’s annexationist and rogue mindset.
In his statement at the 21st Extraordinary Session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) in Jeddah, DPM Dar reiterated Pakistan’s call for an immediate and effective ceasefire in Gaza.
He ensured the flow of humanitarian aid, an end to forced displacement, illegal settlement expansion and annexation of Palestinian land, accountability for war crimes and crimes against humanity, and the implementation of international and humanitarian laws.
He said the meeting was held again as Gaza bled, under systematic, premeditated and deliberate violations of international law, including international humanitarian law, UN Security Council resolutions and the judgment of the ICJ.
And all of this was being committed with impunity by Israel, he noted.
“Gaza has become a graveyard for innocent lives as well as for international law, particularly International Humanitarian Law (IHL). Over 60,000 Palestinians — most of them women and children — have been killed in Israel’s brutal military assault,” he added.
He said the systematic targeting of hospitals, schools, UN facilities, aid convoys and refugee camps was not incidental; these were wanton acts of collective punishment in full view of the world.
“Gaza is enduring a full-scale humanitarian catastrophe. For nearly two years, it has suffered indiscriminate bombardment, total blockade, and deliberate deprivation and starvation, while violence and dispossession escalate in the West Bank and Jerusalem,” he added.
Dar further said the so-called humanitarian system put in place by the occupying power was a cruel illusion, adding: “Famine is rampant. Civilians are being shot while trying to collect food. The hunger crisis in Gaza has reached unprecedented and deeply alarming levels.”

What is Kylie Jenner’s favourite Timothée Chalamet movie?
Kylie Jenner has made a rare public comment about boyfriend Timothée Chalamet, opening up about his films and their relationship during a podcast appearance that marks only her second ever.
Jenner joined rapper Kid Cudi on the debut episode of his Big Bro podcast, a natural connection, given that Cudi and Chalamet have been close friends for years, their bond rooted in the actor’s repeated praise of Cudi’s music during the Call Me by Your Name press run in 2017 and 2018.
When Cudi asked Jenner to pick her favourite Chalamet film, she didn’t find it easy.
“That’s hard for me because I feel like I really love them all,” she said, before settling on an answer.
“But Call Me by Your Name is pretty perfect.” She also singled out the Dune films as favourites, and revealed she has watched his 2023 movie Wonka a remarkable number of times.
“I’ve seen it like seven times,” she said. Cudi added that he and Chalamet have their own tradition of watching his films together in cinemas.
Jenner and Chalamet have been together for roughly three years, keeping their relationship largely out of the public eye.
She has been a consistent presence throughout his Marty Supreme awards campaign, attending three Golden Globes ceremonies and two Oscars alongside him.

Artemis II crew member had heartbreaking talk with daughters before launch
As the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is preparing for its first crewed mission in more than half a century, Artemis II crew member Reid Wiseman had one of the most difficult conversations with her daughters.
The 50-year-old discussed his own death plan with his teenage daughters.
He is a single father and raised Ellie and Katherine after the death of his wife, who lost her life to cancer in 2020.
Before heading to NASA’s Kennedy Space Centre, he took his daughters for a walk and mentally prepared them that he might not return from the 10-day lunar flyby mission.
Wiseman said: “Here’s where the will is, here’s where the trust documents are, and if anything happens to me, here’s what’s going to happen to you.”
“I actually wish more people in everyday life talked to their families in that way because you never know what the next day is going to bring,” he added.
The mission is scheduled to launch from Florida on Wednesday, April 1. The crew includes three more members named Victor Glover, Christina Koch, and Canadian Space Agency astronaut Jeremy Hansen.
The crew will make the journey around the moon in the Orion spacecraft, the first human mission to the moon since the Apollo 17 mission in 1972.
Wiseman said that while his daughters initially had “zero interest” in his launching again after spending five months on the International Space Station in 2014, they eventually came around after discussing the importance of the mission with him, even baking him moon-themed cupcakes the following morning.
He acknowledged that the toughest part is “the stress” he is putting on his daughters.

MrBeast sparks panic with YouTube exit announcement
MrBeast sent the internet into a frenzy on Wednesday, April 1, after his announcement of quitting YouTube.
Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter), he wrote: “I’m deleting my YouTube channel.”
The YouTube sensation, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson, uploaded a video and posted various social media posts saying that he was taking a break from the site that propelled him to worldwide stardom.
The announcement immediately went viral, with fans reacting in shock and disbelief on various social media channels.
The news sparked a lot of speculation among fans, who wondered whether the young creator, who is only 27 years old and who currently has over 300 million subscribers and is famous for his lavish stunts and philanthropic giveaways, would be willing to give up his empire.
However, the post coincides with April Fool’s Day. In past years, MrBeast has done similar pranks on April Fool’s Day. Earlier, he has used April Fools’ Day to tease fake projects, merchandise drops, and collaborations.
Though some fans have been relieved that it was not true, others have criticized this prank for creating undue worry among his large number of fans. Nevertheless, this prank was effective in taking over social media conversations on April Fools’ Day.
