James Patterson offers new writers up to ,000 to finish their books

After years of giving millions of dollars to literacy programs, bookstore employees and librarians, James Patterson has now launched an initiative on behalf of emerging authors.

The bestselling novelist and true crime writer announced Wednesday the first 12 recipients of grants from his “Go Finish Your Book” campaign. Authors each will receive up to $50,000 to help them complete their manuscript.

“There are so many incredible stories out there that never get written because life gets in the way. I wanted to give these writers a little time, a little space, and a push to say: your voice matters — now go finish your book,” Patterson said in a statement.

Patterson’s new program was organized in partnership with PEN America, the Authors Guild and the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, among other organizations. The inaugural recipients, drawn from hundreds of submissions, are working on books in genres ranging from memoirs to graphic novels. One author, Jungin Angie Lee, hopes to finish a short story collection.

“I aim to write a thoughtful, meaningful, powerful book that sheds light on friendship, family, and disability — particularly the intricacies of giving and receiving care — and the ‘Go Finish Your Book’ grant comes to me as an extremely generous, much-needed burst of motivation and boost of confidence,” Lee said in a statement.

Jessica Chastain reaches new heights with major milestone

Jessica Chastain gets emotional in Hollywood Walk of Fame

Jessica Chastain, who is famous for her Oscar winning performance in The Eyes of Tammy Faye, and other acclaimed performances in Zero Dark Thirty, The Help, and Intersteller, has reached new heights of success as she was honored with her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

On September 4, the Hollywood actress showed gratitude for the support that she has received from her family and pals in her speech.

Sharing that she managed to fulfil her ambition, the IT Chapter 2 actress began, “My grandmother took me. It was the first time I realised it was a job that people could have, and after watching it, I was like, ‘Oh, I’m an actor.’”

Recalling her initial career journey, she continued, “I felt it really young. Even though I dropped out of high school and went back and got my diploma later on, I was voted ‘Most Talented’ in our yearbook. So very early on, I was getting feedback that it was something I was good at, and that helped a lot.”

“It’s something I think is really important for actors to learn, and it was such an example in that scenario, that one person’s opinion isn’t everyone else’s,” the American actress gave advice to new actors.

“All of a sudden, I started from nothing to get leads, and it was because people went to see that play — and they thought I did a good job,” she said while admitting that 2013’s Salomé was the turning point of the career, the 48-year-old actress.

Before concluding, Jessica Chastain shared, I’m excited to play characters that are really complex, where I’m OK if someone leaves my film and goes, ‘I’m not sure I liked it.’ I want to push people a little bit outside their comfort zone.”

Ryan Reynolds and Colin Hanks premiere ‘John Candy’ documentary

Ryan Reynolds turned heads on Thursday evening as he hit the red carpet at the Toronto International Film Festival for the world premiere of John Candy: I Like Me.

The 48-year-old Deadpool star, who produced the film, was joined by director Colin Hanks, son of Tom Hanks, for the star-studded debut.

Reynolds looked stylish in a brown corduroy suit layered over a vintage Canada T-shirt, completing the look with brown-and-white loafers.

According to Daily Mail, he was accompanied by his mother, Tammy Reynolds, who flashed a smile in a black-and-white polka dot ensemble paired with silver platform shoes.

Moreover, Colin Hanks revealed a different appearance from his usual clean-cut image, sporting a bushy salt-and-pepper beard, slim frame, and retro browline glasses.

He opted for a navy suit and gray button-down shirt for the premiere.

Eugene Levy, a longtime collaborator of Candy’s, was also in attendance, lending support to the tribute.

Speaking to the TIFF audience, Hanks said the Canadian premiere was a natural choice, “We had numerous conversations with various people about where would the dream place be to premiere this movie, and the truth is the answer resides in the lyrics of John’s favorite song: Oh Canada, Our Home and Native Land.”

Reynolds paid tribute to Candy, who died in 1994, calling him “the greatest, most beautiful man that I never met,” adding, “I’ve been obsessed with him for a very long time. My goddamn suit is covered in John tonight.”

The documentary, acquired by Amazon Prime Video, was made with the support of Candy’s widow, Rosemary Margaret Hobor, and their children, Jennifer and Chris.

It features never-before-seen home videos, family archives, and interviews, offering a rare glimpse into Candy’s life off-screen.

Meghan Markle told she’s going to ghost you like an ex

Meghan Markle told she’s going to ghost you like an ex

Meghan Markle warned about the chances of her getting ghosted

Following the release of season 2 of Meghan Markle’s lifestyle show With Love, Meghan, an expert has stepped forward to discuss her chances at a recovery.

The chairman of Reputation Management Consultants, Eric Schiffer, spoke to Newsweek about this.

In that conversation he brought up the question “Can she turn it around?” before offering the answer himself and saying, “Of course.”

The reason for Mr Schiffer’s faith relies on the fact that “she’s one big creative idea away from making it interesting.”

Because as it stands, the consultant believes, “they could go back and pitch Season 3 as something that would shock everyone and create a lot of buzz but a ruthless read from a PR war room would be that the show’s cozy authenticity didn’t get traction, it failed bad.”

All because “the lifestyle lane is unforgiving.”

In Mr Schiffer’s eyes, “unless you either have some repeatable utility or can shock hardcore then viewers are going to ghost you like an ex.”

At the end of the day, anyone in Hollywood is “competing with influencers and YouTube and minds that are willing to take those risks,” Mr Schiffer added. “I was with some of the big creatives that have helped MrBeast yesterday and these are avante gard thinkers.”

Before concluding, he added too that in order to make it work, “she needs to tie in with those folks, they’ll figure out the game.”
