SEC distributing more than $1B to its schools for 2024-25
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The Southeastern Conference is distributing more than $1 billion to its 16 universities for the 2024-25 fiscal year, which ended last August.
The total distribution jumped more than $200 million from the previous year. The current total includes $37.4 million retained by universities that participated in the College Football Playoff and bowl games.
The amount distributed from the conference office, including bowl revenue retained by participants, averaged $72.4 million for schools with full year financial participation. Oklahoma and Texas, which joined the conference in July 2024, received distributions of $2.6 million and $12.1 million, respectively, related to CFP and bowl participation and designated NCAA funds.
The $72.4 million average per school is approximately $18.6 million above the 2023-24 average of $53.8 million for full members.
The payout for the 14 schools receiving a full share is comprised of revenue generated from television agreements, postseason bowls, the CFP, the SEC title game, the SEC men’s basketball tournament and NCAA championships.

Seahawks star rookie Nick Emmanwori downplays ankle sprain suffered during Super Bowl practice: ‘I’ll be good’
NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!
Injury news during Super Bowl week is never what a team wants to see, but the Seattle Seahawks are dealing with it after standout cornerback Nick Emmanwori suffered an ankle sprain during practice on Wednesday.
Emmanwori, though, isn’t missing his first crack at a Super Bowl ring in his first NFL season.
“Feel good,” he told reporters Thursday during a Super Bowl media availability. “Training staff has a good plan for me… I’ll be good to go.”

The injury occurred when Emmanwori was defending a pass during practice, rolling the ankle that resulted in a sprain. Luckily, it was a low-ankle sprain, as a high-ankle would be much harder to play on.
Emmanwori walked off the practice field on his own, with teammates and coaches coming to his side as reinforcement.

Head coach Mike Macdonald said on Wednesday that the team will “kind of go from here and figure out what are the next steps.”
A potential Defensive Rookie of the Year, Emmanwori has been a crucial piece for the NFL’s top defense this season. The 35th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft started 11 of his 14 games during his rookie year, tallying 81 tackles, 2.5 sacks and an interception.
What has made Emmanwori great in his inaugural season is his versatility, being able to fly around the field in both run and pass situations. Emmanwori broke up 11 passes this year.

In the event Emmanwori can’t go on Sunday, or is having trouble playing to the best of his abilities, Ty Okada could slot in at the nickel for Seattle.
Emmanwori isn’t the only Seahawks’ player dealing with something this week despite the time off. Quarterback Sam Darnold has been nursing an oblique injury throughout the playoffs, but Macdonald said he was “right on schedule” with where he needs to be for Sunday’s game at Levi’s Stadium.
Darnold was also dealing with the oblique issue when he threw for three touchdowns in the NFC Championship Game victory over the Los Angeles Rams to reach the Super Bowl.

Monaco drop Paul Pogba from Champions League squad – sources
Monaco have dropped Paul Pogba from their Champions League squad for the knockout stages in order to make room for their January new signings, sources have told ESPN.
Pogba, who will turn 33 next month, has not played since the start of December and has only featured three times this season for the club — a pair of five minute cameos against Rennes and PSG in November and again off the bench against Brest.
The France international joined Monaco in June after an 18-month doping ban and initially struggled for fitness, before minor thigh problems and an ankle injury further ruled him out.
He now is recovering from a calf injury he picked up in early December — which he is due back from in the next few days.

Monaco signed Simon Adingra and Wout Faes in the January transfer window and they want them both involved for the Champions League playoff games against PSG later this month.
The pair are likely to be starters, which won’t be the case for Pogba.
