- Foreign Office summons Afghan interim ambassador.
Pakistan has asked the Afghan government to cut ties with the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and meet its commitment to eliminate the group from Afghan soil, cautioning that failure to act would be treated as “hostile” activity.
Islamabad conveyed its message through the Afghan interim ambassador in Pakistan, who was summoned to the Foreign Office the other day. The envoy was told in clear terms that Afghanistan’s Taliban regime must ensure its soil is not used for terrorist activities, The News reported on Wednesday.
The envoy was summoned in the wake of a recent surge in terrorist activities of Fitna al-Khawarij terrorists, sheltering on Afghan soil and are funded and sponsored by Indian’s RAW — the Research and Analysis Wing.
Highly placed diplomatic sources told The News Tuesday evening that Afghan interim ambassador Sardar Ahmed Shakib was summoned to the Foreign Office.
Additional Foreign Secretary Syed Ali Assad Gilani conveyed Pakistan’s concern to the Taliban envoy.
Meanwhile, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister, with the status of Minister of State, Muhammad Sadiq Khan, has returned from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), where he had gone on an Afghanistan-related unannounced mission. He will be submitting a detailed report to the leadership about his undertaking.
He is likely to lead a delegation of senior officials to Kabul later this week to take up the latest developments in bilateral issues with the Taliban government.
Sadiq Khan will convey a stern message from Pakistan’s leadership to his interlocutors in the Afghan capital. He will also have a meeting with interim Afghan Foreign Minister Mulla Amir Muttaqi.
Meanwhile, sources told this scribe that 18 terrorists were killed near the Chahbahar area of Iran, who had a close association with the terrorist group BLA — the Balochistan Liberation Army. Sixteen terrorists were reportedly Afghan nationals.
Foreign Office spokesman Additional Foreign Secretary Shafqat Ali Khan was not available for comment on Afghanistan-related developments, as his phone went unanswered till late evening.

Meghan Markle shares delightful family update amid rift with dad Thomas
Meghan Markle tuned out the noise of critics firmly to mark special celebration as she shared a delightful family update.
The Duchess of Sussex, mum to seven-year-old Archie and four-year-old Lilibet, took a trip to Disneyland, in what appeared to be Mother’s Day celebrations.
The Sussex family was also joined by Meghan’s mum, Doria Ragland for the occasion as well. On Monday night, Meghan shared a carousel of highlights from her day.
Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet were seen enjoying themselves as they met with their favourite Disney characters. King Charles’s youngest granddaughter particularly shared a heartwarming hug with Cinderella during the outing.
Meanwhile, in her Instagram Stories, Doria was warmly greeted by Mickey Mouse much to Meghan’s amusement.
According to a source cited by People Magazine, the family was celebrating the children’s birthday together.
“The kids did lots of rides, and it was a special way to extend Mother’s Day for Meghan and her mom,” they said.
Archie turned seven last week, whereas Lilibet will be turning four next month.
The news comes just days after it was revealed that Meghan’s father Thomas Markle has returned to the US to continue with his medical care. He is expected to receive a prosthetic leg following his life-saving leg amputation in Philippines.
There is speculation over whether Meghan would meet her father, but sources and royal experts are of the view that the father-daughter reunion is unlikely to happen any time soon.

Pete Davidson takes jab at Lizzo over weight loss
Pete Davidson took a playful swipe at Lizzo’s recent weight loss during The Roast of Kevin Hart, which premiered on Netflix on 10 May.
Taking to the podium, the former Saturday Night Live star joked to the audience, “What’s left of Lizzo is here,” before comparing her transformation to Eddie Murphy’s characters in The Nutty Professor.
“Either that or Eddie Murphy just premiered the newest Klump. Hercules! Hercules!” he quipped.
Lizzo, who was in the audience, appeared to take the jab in good spirits, laughing along and clapping at the reference.
The 38-year-old singer has been open about her changing appearance, revealing on the Just Trish podcast in June 2025 that she briefly experimented with GLP-1 medications like Ozempic.
She admitted that while the injections worked by making her feel full, she eventually decided to move away from them in favour of “mind over matter” and a significant shift in her diet.
Lizzo explained that she actually found it harder to stay full when she was a vegan, as she relied heavily on bread, rice, and processed fake meats.
Her new approach focuses on whole foods, including beef, chicken, and fish, which she says has helped her feel more satisfied without “expanding” her stomach with artificial ingredients.
By cutting out “fake sugar and weird stuff,” the About Damn Time hitmaker has managed to maintain her thinner frame naturally.
Despite the physical change, Lizzo has been quick to defend her status as a body-positive icon, insisting that the movement isn’t about staying the same size forever.
Speaking to Women’s Health last summer, she described body positivity as the “radical act of daring to exist loudly and proudly” regardless of what society expects.
She maintains that her commitment to exercise is primarily for her mental well-being, calling a workout the ultimate mood enhancer.
While she might look different these days, Lizzo’s message remains one of self-love and existing on her own terms, even if that means being the center of a joke at a celebrity roast.
