Bayern Munich’s Kompany: My kids made me stop angry outbursts
Bayern Munich boss Vincent Kompany said he has learned to keep his cool because he does not want to turn the air blue in front of his children.
The former Manchester City skipper’s showreel has landed him in trouble at home, as he revealed during his preparations for his side’s Bundesliga clash with lowly FC Augsburg at the Allianz Arena on Saturday.

Asked when he got annoyed, Kompany told a news conference: “My children always saw it on YouTube when I swore in the Premier League. It doesn’t put me in a strong position at home when I’m bringing them up, telling them what to say and what not to say.
“But when I get really annoyed, when we’re too arrogant … we have to be convinced of how strong we are and we already know that. But I don’t like unnecessary arrogance. If we do less than we normally have to, then I sometimes get annoyed.
“For me, this work is so important, a sign of respect towards the club, towards the opponents. That’s why I try to stay as calm as possible.”
While arrogance may not be tolerated within the Bayern camp, confidence is understandably high after a run of 10 games comprising nine wins and a draw since their only defeat this season, a 3-1 Champions League reverse at Arsenal on Nov. 26.
They are already 11 points clear of Borussia Dortmund at the top of the table, although had to come from behind to win at both FC Cologne and RB Leipzig in their last two league games before Wednesday night’s 2-0 Champions League victory over Union St-Gilloise.
Kompany said: “It’s the Bundesliga. When the opponents are so fresh in the first 45 minutes and give everything for the game plan, then it’s not that easy for us to score two or three goals and it’s all over.
“It doesn’t work like that, not in the Bundesliga, not in the Champions League. Against Leipzig, our opponents were much better than us at the start. We survived that, but I don’t want to see that any more. We wrote a different story in the second half.
“But that’s different to the other games. I prefer things to not go that well in the first half and then go well in the second. The other way round would be a big problem.”
Augsburg have lost their last seven meetings with the champions in all competitions, including a 3-2 home defeat in August, and conceded 25 goals in the process since a 1-0 home win in September 2022.
However, they will not have to deal with Dayot Upamecano, who is unwell and has joined a casualty list which also includes fellow defenders Josip Stanisic, Konrad Laimer and Sacha Boey.
Bayern are still waiting for Upamecano to respond to a contract extension offer, with Real Madrid and Paris Saint-German reportedly interested in signing the France defender.
“There was speculation that Upa had more or less agreed. We never said that,” Bayern’s board member for sport, Max Eberl, said Friday. “We said we’re waiting on Upa’s answer. That’s the only thing that counts and that’s what we’re waiting for.”
Upamecano switched from Leipzig in 2021 when Bayern paid his release fee of around €43 million (then $52.2 million). If he doesn’t sign an extension, he can leave Bayern for free at the end of the season when his current deal expires.
“I’m not under any pressure. I hope there’s a solution soon. I don’t have a deadline,” the player said this month.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Monday announced the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11 Team of the Tournament, naming Babar Azam skipper after a title-winning campaign.
The Team of the Tournament comprises three players each from Peshawar Zalmi and Hyderabad Kingsmen, two apiece from Lahore Qalandars and Islamabad United, and one player each from Multan Sultans and Quetta Gladiators.
The selection was made by a five-member panel drawn from the commentary team. The jury also finalised the Emerging Team of the Tournament, recognising the standout young performers of the season.
A total of 44 matches were played from March 26 to May 3 across Lahore and Karachi.
Babar Azam, who lifted his third PSL title as a player and first as captain, finished as the leading run-scorer with 588 runs.
Opening the innings, he also claimed the Hanif Mohammad Cap and equalled the record for most runs in a single PSL season, matching Fakhar Zaman’s tally from 2022.
His campaign featured two centuries in four matches against Quetta Gladiators and Islamabad United.
Peshawar Zalmi are further represented by Kusal Mendis and Sufyan Moqim. Mendis scored 550 runs, including four half-centuries and a century, while also contributing eight dismissals behind the stumps.
His century came against Karachi Kings at the National Bank Stadium on April 9. Left-arm wrist-spinner Sufyan Moqim took 22 wickets at an average of 14.40 and an economy rate of 7.20, earning both Player of the Tournament and Best Bowler honours.
Hyderabad Kingsmen have three representatives in Usman Khan, Hassan Khan and Hunain Shah. Usman finished fourth among the top run-scorers with 389 runs, including a century and three half-centuries.
Hassan contributed 139 runs at a strike rate of 195 alongside six wickets and strong fielding performances. Hunain Shah impressed with 17 wickets in 10 matches, emerging as a key bowler in the latter stages of the competition.
Lahore Qalandars’ Fakhar Zaman and Shaheen Shah Afridi also feature in the XI. Fakhar scored 401 runs to finish third overall, while Shaheen claimed 16 wickets at an economy rate of 7.86.
Multan Sultans’ Shan Masood is included after scoring 367 runs at an average of 45.87 and a strike rate of 158.18. Islamabad United captain Shadab Khan also makes the side after a strong all-round season, scoring 173 runs and taking 17 wickets, earning the Best All-Rounder of the Tournament award.
Teammate Richard Gleeson is selected for his impactful new-ball performances, finishing with 12 wickets at an economy rate of 7.13.
Quetta Gladiators’ Hasan Nawaz has been named as the 12th player after scoring 291 runs.

James appeared to be a big fan of Clark as he posted about the Fever sharpshooter before the beginning of her second season in the WNBA.

Year 2 didn’t exactly work out for Clark. She started off the season hot, finishing in double figures in scoring in eight straight games before she was held to just six points in 31 minutes against the Seattle Storm.
Clark reached at least 12 points in the final three games she appeared in. On July 15, Clark suffered a hamstring injury before the All-Star break and she wouldn’t return to the floor for the rest of the year.

She said last month she was “100% healthy” going into the 2026 season.
“I’m a person that doesn’t want to sit out a single rep, like I want to be in there every single time,” Clark told reporters in April. “But I think just being a little bit smarter with my body…whether that’s recovery, whether that’s pre-court treatment, whatever it is.”
She proved it as much so far during the preseason.

Here’s what to know about this oddsboard:
Finals Favorites: The Thunder won it all last season, and the season before that, the Celtics reached the top of the mountain. So, entering the postseason, the two squads were favored to meet in a seven-game series with the title on the line, meaning one of the two franchises could have been approaching dynasty territory if the odds had rung true. However, the Celtics suffered a shocking first-round defeat at the hands of the Sixers, despite leading the series 3-1. Now, Boston is at home, while the Thunder will face the Lakers after sweeping the Suns in Round 1. The new favorite to come out the East? The New York Knicks, who haven’t been to the Finals since falling 4-1 to San Antonio at the conclusion of the 1998-99 season. N.Y. beat Atlanta in six games in the first round and is up 1-0 on Philly in the second round.
The Challengers: The Spurs are next in the mix from the West. Keep in mind, San Antonio and OKC faced off five times this season, and the Spurs won four of those matchups, including the first three. In terms of the East, after New York, things are up in the air, with the Pistons, Cavs and Sixers all in the mix. Detroit, after being one of three teams to win 60 games in the regular season and the only East team to accomplish the feat, has not been getting much respect on the oddsboards, including this one. However, it could have something to do with the Pistons trailing 3-1 to Orlando in the first round, and having to overcome a 60-38 halftime deficit in Game 6 in order to force a Game 7, which they ultimately won.
