Did Trump threaten 250% tariff on Norway over Olympic gold medals?

Did Trump threaten 250% tariff on Norway over Olympic gold medals?

Has United States (U.S.) President Donald Trump threatened to impose a 250 percent tariff on Norway for winning most gold medals at the 2026 Milan Cortina Games?? The question has been buzzing on social media.

A post on X, having one million views, showing an alleged snapshot of President Trump’s post on Truth Social claims that the U.S. president has accused Norway of cheating and threatened to impose tariffs.

The alleged post read, “Norway is about to win the most golds AGAIN. A country smaller than South Carolina! We pay for their defence through NATO, and they spend it all on wax labs running fluorocarbon power overlays on CLASSIFIED sintered polyethylene base material that you literally CAN’T EVEN BUY.”

The statement continued, “If Norway does not IMMEDIATELY share their stone grind patterns and fluorocarbon protocols with American teams, I will have no choice but to put a 250 percent tariff on Norwegian salmon, effective immediately.”

The post ends with signature Trump remarks – MAKE SKIING FAIR AGAIN!!.

However, the post was fake as President Trump has not threatened Norway nor did he post any statement related to skiing on his Truth Social account.

A community note has now been added to the fake X post, which reads, “This is not a real Truth Social from Donald Trump. The original poster even admitted it.”

The user who shared the fake screenshot admitted that the statement was not real but a satire.

Former Pakistan captain and standout batter Babar Azam has shared his thoughts ahead of the eagerly awaited blockbuster showdown with India in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, set for Sunday at the R Premadasa Stadium.

In an interview with ESPNcricinfo, Babar spoke about the unparalleled intensity and worldwide attention that a Pakistan-India clash invariably commands.

He emphasised the pressure these matches bring — not just from fans, but from the responsibility of representing the nation on a massive stage.

“Like you said, a Pakistan-India match is always high intensity. The whole world and the fans are involved. Even with so many people watching, it plays out on different levels, and expectations naturally rise,” Babar said.

Drawing from his own experience, the 31-year-old stressed the importance of maintaining composure and managing expectations.

Babar highlighted how staying calm and not getting distracted by external opinions can make a crucial difference, especially for younger players navigating the hype of high-profile encounters.

“I’ve been part of many matches, and we’ve learnt that the more we stay cool, relaxed, and don’t listen to what people say, the better it is. Youngsters often get excited and talk about it, but if you stay easy and tension-free, it always works in your favour,” he added.

It is pertinent to mention that both teams remain unbeaten in the group stage so far. Pakistan has registered victories over the Netherlands and the USA, while India has defeated the USA and Namibia.

Historically, India and Pakistan have met 16 times in T20 Internationals, with India winning 13 and Pakistan three.

In T20 World Cup encounters, the two sides have clashed eight times, with India leading 6-1 and one match ending in a tie.

Timothée Chalamet reveals his favourite movie of 2025

Timothée Chalamet reveals his favourite movie of 2025

Elle Fanning hosted a screening for Timothée Chalamet’s 2018 film, Beautiful Boy, in Los Angeles and the actor himself joined the discussion.

The screening, which took place on Thursday, started making social media rounds over the weekend and subsequently revealed many insights from the two actors’ conversation.

One of which was Chalamet sharing his favourite film of the past year, co-incidentally starring the discussion’s host and his former co-star.

The current Oscar frontrunner revealed Sentimental Value to be his favourite title of 2025, the European production starring Norwegian actress Renate Reinsve, Stellan Skarsgård, and Elle Fanning.

Chalamet said that his A Complete Unknown co-star was in “my favourite movie this year” as he named the film, further describing her work in it as “fantastic”.

The American-French actor also referenced The Worst Person in the World, the 2021 film directed by the filmmaker behind Sentimental Value, Joachim Trier. The Danish-Norwegian artist was described as “an amazing director” by Chalamet.

The Marty Supreme actor’s appearance at the Beautiful Boy screening came on the heels of his recent film discussion with Christopher Nolan, where the duo talked about their only collaboration, Interstellar.

Timothée Chalamet had a minor role in the 2014 release, which proved to be one of his early breakout performances.

He has also been on a recent run promoting a career retrospective, appearing for multiple screenings of his past films, like The King, the two installments of Dune, with more planned in the coming days.

iPhone 18 Pro may offer satellite-enabled 5G, thanks to Apple’s A20 chipset

iPhone 18 Pro may offer satellite-enabled 5G, thanks to Apple’s A20 chipset

iPhone 18 Pro may offer satellite-enabled 5G, thanks to Apple’s A20 chipset

While the entire smartphone industry’s focus is currently on the well-awaited launch of the Galaxy S26 phones, Apple seems to be making strides to snag some portion of the limelight that’s on the South Korean tech giant, as a renowned leaker has teased that Apple might introduce cellular connectivity via satellite in its upcoming iPhone 18 Pro.

The purported satellite-assisted 5G support in iPhone 18 will be enabled through Apple’s second-generation C2 modem, allowing users to access the internet through satellites, expanding beyond the current SOS messaging feature which facilitates iPhone users to contact emergency services via text.

Next-generation modem capabilities

iPhone 18’s new Apple-made modem, said to be part of the A20 chipset, is rumoured to “support NR-NTN this year,” as per the Chinese leaker Fixed Focus Digital, Apple Insider reported. It means New Radio Non-Terrestrial Networks will be included, offering a full web experience without traditional cellular coverage.

That being the case, chances are good for iPhone 18 users that they will not struggle for connectivity while roaming free in areas with little network coverage. This advancement is believed to eliminate the need to be close to a cellular tower to check scores or send messages during outdoor adventures.

Previous reports from sources like The Information and Bloomberg also suggested the same, that satellite 5G could be on the iPhone 18 cards.

Partnerships for next iPhone 18’s satellite 5G connectivity

For such an ambitious plan to exist, Apple may have to seal a deal with a satellite provider, and if the company opts for collaboration with Starlink, Elon Musk’s satellite internet venture, it could raise concerns due to Musk’s close ties with the US government.

iPhone 18 launch date

Last but not least, iPhone 18’s C2 modem might as well enhance battery efficiency and support Apple’s ‘limit precise location’ feature for newer models beyond the iPhone 16e and certain iPads. If we draw something out of iPhone launch history, the iPhone 18 Pro would launch in September 2026.
