Pakistan has witnessed a surge in cross-border terror incidents since Taliban rulers returned to Afghanistan in 2021, particularly in the bordering provinces of KP and Balochistan.
The country witnessed a sharp escalation in militant attacks in August, with incidents surging by 74% compared to July, according to a report by the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS).
The Islamabad-based think tank recorded 194 fatalities from militant attacks during the month.
Meanwhile, in an alarming disclosure, government officials have disclosed that there are more than 8,000 Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), declared “Fitna al-Khawarij”, terrorists in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Saying that the militants set up checkpoints on the CPEC Road, DI Khan-Bannu Road and in Tank, the officials said that the terrorists take refuge in the general population and attack security forces.
KP, as per the police report, has witnessed more than 600 terrorism incidents in the first eight months of 2025.
There were 605 terror incidents in the province till August, which resulted in the martyrdom of 138 civilians, while 352 others were left wounded.

James Cameron gives major update on future plans
James Cameron reveals his plans for the next film after Avatar: Fire and Ash.
Titanic director claimed that he plans to move on from Avatar with reboot of Terminator.
“Once the dust clears on Avatar in a couple of months, I’m going to really plunge into that,” Cameron shared. “There are a lot of narrative problems to solve. The biggest is how do I stay enough ahead of what’s really happening to make it science fiction?”
“I’m working on it,” the Alien filmmaker continued.
What came as a shock to fans of the Terminator series is that this time the movie will be made without its iconic star, Arnold Schwarzenegger.
“I can safely say he won’t be [in it],” Cameron confirmed. “It’s time for a new generation of characters.
He mentioned that 2019’s Terminator: Dark Fate was intended as a fitting conclusion to the actor’s decades-long run as the T-800.
Instead, Cameron envisions a broader reinvention of the franchise, focusing on themes of artificial intelligence, time wars, and superintelligence.
The 71-year-old emphasized that the new film will not rely on nostalgic callbacks but will push the story into uncharted territory.
The first movie from the franchise came in 1984 following which came Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991) which was widely regarded as one of the greatest action films ever made.
Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, Terminator Salvation, Terminator Genisys, Terminator: Dark Fate (2019) followed the first two movies.

Radiation fears rise after cracks found in $2 billion Chernobyl shield
The protective shield built over Reactor 4 in Chernobyl has cracked, sparking fears that the deadly radiation might start leaking.
Following the world’s worst nuclear disaster in 1986, a $2 billion protective shield, officially known as the New Safe Confinement (NSC) was constructed over the Reactor 4 to contain the radiation.
For context, the World Nuclear Association describes the Chernobyl nuclear disaster as an accident in 1986 that was the result of a flawed reactor design, operated with inadequately trained personnel.
According to the United Nations International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) revealed that a Russian drone strike, in February, severely damaged the dome, which has already lost its primary safety functions.
A safety assessment conducted earlier this month found that though the dome remains intact and its monitoring systems are working, it has lost its confinement capability.
IAEA director Rafael Mariano Grossi urged the need for a comprehensive restoration process to ensure long-term nuclear safety.
The agency has also suggested upgrades to the shield, equipping it with:
- Advanced corrosion monitoring
- A high-tech automatic system to keep the radioactive reactor under control
- Improved humidity control
The ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine has put the facility under high risk.
Grossi said that the IAEA will do everything in its power to support and restore the nuclear safety and security of the Chernobyl nuclear site.
Additional temporary repairs at the site are scheduled to take place in 2026.

Meanwhile, The Long Walk actor further confessed being inspired by Walt Disney.
“One of the things that made an impression on me was the Walt Disney Television program cause it was the first television show that showed you how movies were actually made.. there’s a camera crew, there’s wardrobe.”
