Former Prince Andrew to lose last military title as King Charles continues shunning his younger brother
Andrew Mountbatten Windsor, formerly known as Prince Andrew, Duke of York, appears set to be stripped of his last honorary military title as the British royals continue their efforts to distance themselves from King Charles III’s younger brother over his links to the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
“We’ve seen Andrew surrender the military positions that he’s had and we’re looking now at the one remaining position he has, which is the honorary vice admiral position, and we’ve got a process underway for that” to be removed, Defense Secretary John Healey told Britain’s Sky News on Sunday.
In a separate interview on the same subject with CBS News’ partner network BBC News, the defense chief said “it’s a move the king has indicated we should take.”
Mountbatten Windsor is the late Queen Elizabeth II’s third child. He spent decades in public life as a working member of the royal family, but revelations of his historical ties Epstein have turned him into a pariah figure. In 2016, he was named in a civil lawsuit brought by Virginia Giuffre, who alleged that Epstein paid her to have sex with the former prince on several occasions. Mountbatten Windsor has repeatedly denied the claims, but he settled the case out of court with Giuffre in 2022, for an undisclosed sum.

That settlement failed to stanch criticism of the former prince and the resulting pressure on the royal family, however, as new information continued to emerge about his historic connections with Epstein in the wake of a damning 2019 interview with the BBC’s Newsnight, in which he defended his ties to the disgraced financier.
In the years after that interview, right up until this year, amid revelations about correspondence between Epstein and the then-prince, the royal family appeared reluctant to intervene, allowing him to step away from public duties and to give up many of his titles and privileges of his own volition.
Last week, however, in a landmark move, King Charles announced that his younger brother would be deprived of the title of prince and told to leave his 30-room, tax-payer-funded Royal Lodge home in Windsor.
One of the few titles Andrew Mountbatten Windsor still holds is honorary Vice Admiral in the Royal Navy, which he received on his 55th birthday in 2015. It is unclear how long the process to remove that title, which defense chief Healy has now confirmed is underway, might take.
The former prince had a 22-year career in the Royal Navy, including serving as a helicopter pilot during the Falklands War, and commanding the anti-mine vessel HMS Cottesmore.
Asked about the ongoing scandal, President Trump told CBS News’ Norah O’Donnell in an interview that aired Sunday on 60 Minutes that “it’s a terrible thing that’s happened” to the royal family.
“That’s been a tragic situation,” he said. “And, I mean, I feel badly for the family.”
CBS News has contacted the royal family for comment on the pending removal of the former prince’s Royal Naval title.

Justin Bieber labels touring ‘super daunting’
Justin Bieber just admitted that he finds the idea of touring “super daunting.”
The 31-year-old singer addressed the challenges of leaving behind his 28-year-old wife, Hailey Bieber, and their 15-month-old son, Jack Blues, during a Twitch livestream in which Justin and pals carved pumpkins.
He said: “Touring takes so much out of you, and I’ve done it since I was a kid. Even the idea of touring sounds super daunting.”
“I always start out really loving it and then it gets to a point where I am super burnt out,” the Baby singer explained.
However, Justin wants to choose a location where he can perform for two nights.
The two-time Grammy Award-winner said: “I really wanna do spot-date where I pick a city and do a couple of shows and not commit to a whole two years.”
Justin’s admission comes as he is reportedly set to headline Coachella in 2026.
The line-up for the annual music and arts festival, which is to be held at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, was announced on September 16, and Justin will take to the stage for the Saturday shows, April 11 and 18.
Towards the end of October, the singer joined Twitch and treated his followers to behind-the-scenes videos from a studio where he and his team are putting together his set for the festival.
A source close to Justin told People: “Justin’s Twitch is his way of letting fans see that he’s excited and working hard for his headlining set at Coachella.”
It is pertinent to mention that Justin Bieber’s previous Coachella appearances include when he performed alongside Ariana Grande onstage in 2019, then with Tems in 2024.

PSX rises on IMF tranche hopes, earnings momentum
The stock market rose on Monday as investors priced in an imminent International Monetary Fund (IMF) tranche and a stabilising regional backdrop amid earnings season momentum, with rupee steadiness and firming oil prices supporting risk appetite.
During the session, the Pakistan Stock Exchange’s (PSX) benchmark KSE-100 Index climbed to an intraday high of 163,935.02, gaining 2,303.29 points, or 1.43%, and registered a low of 161,892.59, reflecting a gain of 260.86 points, or 0.16%.
“Bullish activity witnessed on strong earnings outlook and imminent receipt of IMF tranche. Rupee stability and surging global crude oil prices played a catalyst role in bullish activity at PSX,” said Ahsan Mehanti, Managing Director and CEO of Arif Habib Commodities.
The International Monetary Fund’s board is expected to approve a $1.2 billion disbursement for Pakistan, with State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) Governor Jameel Ahmad telling analysts last week that a board meeting is likely by December to release funds under both the Extended Fund Facility and the Resilience and Sustainability Facility.
On the macro front, weekly inflation measured by the Sensitive Price Indicator rose 0.12% in the week to October 30, taking the SPI to 335.53 from 335.14; on a year-on-year basis, the SPI was up 5.05%, according to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.
After a losing streak earlier in the week, the market turned higher on Friday, gaining 4,898.86 points (3.13%) to close at 161,631.73 from 156,732.87. Analysts expect range-bound trade in the near term as investors track IMF timing, earnings releases, and developments on the Pakistan-Afghanistan ceasefire.
