Pakistan collapse as Afghanistan cruise to victory – SUCH TV

Afghanistan put on a commanding all-round display to seal an 18-run victory over Pakistan in their tri-nation series Twenty20 International on Tuesday, notching their second victory in two days.

After posting a competitive 169-5, Afghanistan — who beat the United Arab Emirates on Monday — restricted Pakistan to 151-9 with disciplined bowling and sharp fielding.

Pakistan had beaten Afghanistan in the tri-series opener on Friday but were second best this time.

They faltered at regular intervals in their chase with early strikes from Fazalhaq Farooqi (2-21) removing openers Sahibzada Farhan (18) and Saim Ayub, before Fakhar Zaman’s 25 kept the innings afloat.

But the middle order failed to capitalise with Salman Agha (20), Hasan Nawaz (nine), and Mohammad Nawaz (12) all going cheaply.

Rashid Khan (2-30) and Noor Ahmad (2-20) tightened the screws in middle overs, while experienced Mohammad Nabi (2-20) dismissed key batters.

Pakistan slumped to 111-9 in the 17th over, before Haris Rauf’s blistering 34 not out off 16 balls offered late fireworks.

Earlier, Afghanistan’s top order flourished through a superb partnership between Sediqullah Atal (64 off 45) and Ibrahim Zadran (65 off 45) despite the early loss of opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz.

The duo stitched together 113 runs for the second wicket, setting a strong foundation. Despite a late wobble caused by Faheem Ashraf (4-27), Afghanistan eventually had enough on the board and joined Pakistan with two wins from three matches.

“I think 170 was gettable,” rued Pakistan skipper Salman. “I thought the bowlers did a good job. We lost too many wickets in the middle overs. After eight overs, we were going well but we lost many wickets.

“When you lose that many wickets, it becomes very difficult. The Afghanistan spinners are quality spinners. If you give any sniff to them, they are good enough to grab it. If we did not lose that many wickets in the middle overs, it could have been a different story.”

Vanderbilt poking fun at LSU headlines Week 8 college football trolls

The trolls came out in Week 8 of the college football season, led by an SEC team that secured a huge victory.

No. 17 Vanderbilt defeated No. 10 LSU 31-24 on Saturday, marking its first season with multiple wins over AP top-15 opponents — the Commodores defeated No. 11 South Carolina in September.

Vanderbilt quarterback Diego Pavia accounted for 246 yards and three touchdowns, two of which were on the ground. Pavia is the second Vanderbilt quarterback in the past 20 seasons with multiple rushing touchdowns against an AP top-10 opponent, according to ESPN Research.

The Commodores’ big win came with a simple troll aimed at the Tigers. They used the Cajun spelling of “go” in their postgame caption.

Here are the top trolls from Week 8.

California 21, North Carolina 18

The Golden Bears notched a victory over the Tar Heels thanks to a late defensive play. At the California 13-yard line, North Carolina quarterback Gio Lopez connected with Nathan Leacock for a catch and run that looked like it would result in a touchdown.

However, Cal defensive back Brent Austin punched the ball out and the Bears jumped on it to gain possession. Cal would hold on for its fifth victory of the season.

The Tar Heels’ mascot, Rameses, became the target of the Golden Bears’ troll, which concluded that this is “bear territory.”

Georgia Tech 27, Duke 18

Georgia Tech‘s undefeated season continued after a victory over Duke to secure its first 7-0 start since 1966. Yellow Jackets quarterback Haynes King had 325 total yards plus a score on the ground. Blue Devils quarterback Darian Mensah threw for 373 yards and two touchdowns.

Georgia Tech poked fun at Duke’s moniker, emphasizing the “hell” in “helluva win” that appeared in its caption with a devil emoji at the end.

UConn 38, Boston College 23

UConn is on a roll, having defeated Boston College to notch its fourth straight victory.

The Huskies’ offense put up 455 total yards, including an FBS career-high 362 from quarterback Joe Fagnano. UConn has won five of its first seven games in a season for the fourth time as an FBS program. Meanwhile, the Eagles are 0-6 vs. FBS teams this season — becoming the third ACC school in the past 15 seasons to lose each of its first six games against FBS opponents.

A husky was the main image of a graphic that implied it had eaten an eagle.

Sources: Dyche, Mancini vying for Forest job

Sean Dyche is vying with former Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini to replace Ange Postecoglou at Nottingham Forest, sources have told ESPN, with Mancini being considered by Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis as an alternative to the former Burnley and Everton manager.

Forest are searching for their third manager of the season after the club announced Postecoglou’s sacking just 19 minutes after the team’s 3-0 home defeat against Chelsea on Saturday.

The former Tottenham, Celtic and Australia coach had been in his post for just 39 days, taking charge of eight games without a win, since replacing Nuno Espírito Santo last month.

But with Forest dismissing Postecoglou after his brief spell at the club, sources have said that Dyche is the favoured candidate to take over and that discussions have take place with the 54-year-old, whose connections to the club date back to his time as a youth team player in the 1980s.

Dyche, who was fired by Everton last season, is not a certainty to take charge, however, with Marinakis keen to assess Mancini’s qualities for the job.

Mancini, 60, has not worked in English football since being fired by City in May 2013 — 12 months after guiding the club to its first league title in 44 years — after falling out with a number of senior players at the Etihad.

Mancini has since coached Galatasaray, Inter Milan and Zenit St Petersburg, but has not been involved in the club game since 2018, when he started a five-year stint as Italy coach, during which he led the Azzurri to the Euro 2020 title.

He has been out of work since leaving his post as Saudi Arabia coach in October 2024.
