Sources: Kentucky targeting Jackson State’s Mo Williams for staff
Kentucky is targeting Jackson State coach and former NBA All-Star Mo Williams for an assistant coach position on Mark Pope’s staff, sources told ESPN on Monday.
The move has not been finalized, sources said, but there’s clear mutual interest and both sides expect a deal to be reached.
Williams’ son, Mason, committed to Kentucky last week. Mason Williams is a four-star guard who originally committed to Jackson State but decommitted in early December as his stock rose and potential recruitment expanded to power-conference programs.
Mo Williams has coached at Jackson State for four seasons, going 47-25 in SWAC play and reaching the championship game of the conference tournament last season.
Prior to taking over at Jackson State, Williams was the head coach at Alabama State for two seasons and an assistant coach under Mark Gottried at Cal State Northridge for two seasons.
Williams enjoyed a 13-year playing career in the NBA, averaging 13.2 points and 4.9 assists while playing for seven different franchises. He won an NBA championship with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2016 and was a 2009 All-Star selection during his first stint with the Cavs.
Pope’s staff at Kentucky is undergoing a reshuffle, with Jason Hart leaving the Wildcats for a spot on Andy Enfield’s staff at SMU and Alvin Brooks III also not returning next season.

Shedeur Sanders ditches rookie number as Browns announce change heading into 2026 season
NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!
Shedeur Sanders is making a jersey change heading into his sophomore NFL season, and he’s going back to his Colorado roots.
Sanders, who wore No. 12 during his rookie season, will wear No. 2 next year for the Cleveland Browns.
As the Browns made it official on social media, Sanders did so as well, writing “#2” on X to coincide with his squad.

The move comes after wide receiver DeAndre Carter, who wore the number for Cleveland last season, is no longer on the roster. Now that he has a year under his belt, Sanders can make the change.
And he does so with his old college number, as Sanders wore No. 2 at Jackson State University before transferring to Colorado, as his father, Deion Sanders, took the head coach role with the Buffaloes.
SHEDEUR SANDERS’ WILD 2025 BEGAN WITH DRAFT FALL, BUT IT’S ENDING WITH HOPE AFTER TUMULTUOUS TURNS
While he was wearing No. 12 last season, Sanders started the year in a depth role, as veteran Joe Flacco was Kevin Stefanski’s starting quarterback. But, when Flacco was traded to the Cincinnati Bengals following Joe Burrow’s injury, Dillon Gabriel, who was drafted two rounds before Sanders in a shocking NFL Draft for the Buffaloes product, took over the role.
He would be Gabriel’s backup, but after the latter’s struggles and injury, it was Sanders’ time to step up.

Sanders won his first-ever start against the Las Vegas Raiders and went 3-4 across seven starts as he remained the starter for the remainder of the season. Since then, Stefanski was fired; head coach Todd Monken was hired, and the veteran coach who served as John Harbaugh’s offensive coordinator with the Baltimore Ravens echoed what the Browns said heading into 2026 — there will be an open quarterback competition.
Monken told NFL Network at the NFL owners meeting in Phoenix on Monday that the Browns haven’t “gotten that far yet” in terms of naming Sanders their starter heading into the team’s offseason program.
Deshaun Watson, who has had a turbulent Browns tenure, is back in the fold, while Gabriel is back healthy heading into 2026.
Sanders surely understands he’ll have to prove himself again with a new coaching staff in the building, as that’s ultimately the nature of the NFL except for a rare group of certified starters.

But Sanders has a Pro Bowl under his belt already despite the small sample size on the NFL gridiron. He’s looking to build off the momentum of last season, but it’ll be a fresh start with a new number.

KARACHI:
There is a looming threat of a two-match ban on Fakhar Zaman over allegations of ball tampering. The match referee has completed the hearing and informed the concerned parties of the decision, which is expected to be announced on Tuesday.
The Lahore Qalandars batter has once again denied accepting the charges.
Meanwhile, the Lahore Qalandars team has stood firmly in support of their player, and according to sources, legal action may be taken if a penalty is imposed. At Gaddafi Stadium,Lahore Karachi Kings needed 14 runs in the final over to defeat Lahore Qalandars few days ago. According to a video of the incident, during a break between overs, Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf, and Fakhar Zaman were seen standing together. At that moment, Fakhar took the ball from Haris, did something to it, and then returned it to the bowler.
Immediately, the umpire took the ball from Haris and replaced it, while also awarding a 5-run penalty against Lahore Qalandars. As a result, Karachi Kings’ target in the final over was reduced from 14 to 9 runs, which they successfully chased in just three balls.
This action was taken under PSL Playing Conditions Clause 41.3, which gives umpires the authority to frequently and closely inspect the ball if they suspect any attempt to alter its condition. Under Clause 41.3.5.1, the batter at the crease has the right to choose a replacement ball from a selection of six balls with varying degrees of wear.
According to Clause 41.3.5.3, if umpires can identify the player(s) responsible for altering the ball’s condition and the batting side requests a replacement, a 5-run penalty is awarded to the batting team.
Earlier, on Sunday night, the Pakistan Cricket Board stated in a press release that Fakhar Zaman had violated PSL Playing Conditions Article 41.3. He has been charged under Article 2.14 of the Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which constitutes a Level 3 offense involving any action that alters the condition of the ball. Fakhar Zaman had also denied the allegations during the initial hearing before match referee Roshan Mahanama.

NFL owners in favor of 18th regular-season game, but key caveat added as well
NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!
The 2026 NFL owners meetings in Phoenix are underway, and among the discussions is bound to be whether an 18th regular-season game should be added to the schedule at some point.
Two owners, New England Patriots’ Robert Kraft and Indianapolis Colts’ Carlie Irsay-Gordon, are all for it.
However, there is a key caveat Kraft would be in place.

Kraft reportedly told media in Phoenix that he is in favor of an 18th regular-season game, but he wants there to be a second bye week for teams instead of the standard one week.
Also, Kraft’s “conditions,” according to The33rdTeam’s Ari Meirov was removing one preseason game, which brings the total to two per season, and making every single NFL team play at least one international game each season.
As for Irsay-Gordon, she pointed to the fact that not every team gets an even number of home games in today’s NFL under a 17-game schedule. But she also agrees with Kraft that preseason should be shortened.
“Preseason, is, as far as the fan product goes, I know the commissioner’s been open that it’s not the best product that we have,” she explained, per the Indianapolis Star. “I would say, for development of our team, I don’t think we can get rid of it.”
While owners want it, the NFL Players’ Association noted at the Super Bowl earlier this year that their side has “no appetite” for an 18th regular-season game.

Now that JC Tretter was elected the PA’s executive director, negotiations about an 18th game, as well as a new media rights contract, could be ongoing. While the TV deal could be changed before the start of the 2026 season, Pro Football Talk reported that some support for the league to implement an 18th game could come as soon as the 2027 campaign.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has noted in the past that the 18th game is “not a given,” though owners like Kraft, Irsay, and likely others see it coming sooner than later.
Buffalo Bills left tackle Dion Dawkins said in a recent interview to Fox News Digital that he feels “it’s going to happen either way.”
He just wants to make sure players like himself are taken care of properly if that is the case, especially from a financial lens.

“Our contracts aren’t fully guaranteed. There’s good players, there’s average players, there’s players that are just making it by. As long as guys are taken care of the way they’re supposed to, this is our life. We’re athletes, and not that I’m here for it, it’s going to happen either way – [an] 18th game. And then 20 years later, guess what? We’re talking about a 19th, then we’ll be talking about a 20th.… Then it’s like, ‘Yeah, we are combat athletes all year long.’ But who knows.”
