HOBART:
Washington Sundar hit an unbeaten 49 as India chased down 187 to beat Australia by five wickets in the third Twenty20 international on Sunday and level the series.
The hosts were sent in at Hobart and plundered 186-6, with Tim David crunching 74 from 38 deliveries and Marcus Stoinis also lively in a 39-ball 64.
Arshdeep Singh took 3-35.
But it was never enough and India reached their target with nine balls left. Sundar starred but there were contributions across the board.
It left the five-match series finely poised at 1-1 with two games to play at the Gold Coast and Brisbane.
“It was really important to win the toss. I think it was 19 or 20 tosses (India had lost), so good to break that streak,” India skipper Suryakumar Yadav said.
“It was a good contribution from everyone with the ball and the bat. Very happy to be on the winning side.”
Australia badly missed Josh Hazlewood, India’s tormentor in the last game at Melbourne, who has left the squad to focus on his preparations for the Ashes series against England.
His replacement Sean Abbott was slammed for 56 off 3.3 overs.
“Probably felt we were 20 runs short and we’ve got to find a way to get that,” said Australia captain Mitchell Marsh.
“But I loved the intent. Tim David was outstanding. Stoinis showed his experience.
“The margins in T20 are so small that one or two bad overs or good overs can cost you the game.”
Dangerman Abhishek Sharma got the chase rolling with a quickfire 25 but he tried one slog too many and top-edged Nathan Ellis to wicketkeeper Josh Inglis.
Ellis struck again, trapping Shubman Gill lbw on 15, while Yadav went for 24, deceived by a slower ball from Stoinis.
But India were in the driving seat at 105-3 by the halfway mark.
Two more wickets fell but, with 35 needed off the last five overs, Sundar comfortably saw them home.
Earlier, Travis Head fell for six in the opening over to Singh, who then removed Inglis for one.
But David was on fire, racing to a half-century off 23 balls, including a monster six that almost left the stadium.
India hauled themselves back into contention when the spin of Varun Chakravarthy bamboozled Marsh (11) and Mitchell Owen in successive balls.
David was unrelenting before being taken on the ropes by Tilak Varma off Shivam Dube, ending an innings that included eight fours and five sixes.

Kyle Larson steals NASCAR Cup Series Championship, delivers heartbreak for Denny Hamlin
NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!
Kyle Larson was well behind Denny Hamlin as the NASCAR Cup Series Championship Race was coming down to the final laps on Sunday evening at Phoenix Raceway, but fellow contender William Byron caused a caution when one of his tires blew.
Larson went to the pits to get some fresh tires and the quick stop allowed him to get better track position, whereas Hamlin’s stop was slower and he fell from first place all the way back to 10th. In overtime, with two laps to go, Larson got a good jump and was able to hold off Hamlin to secure the second NASCAR Cup Series Championship of his career.

Hamlin led 208 laps and was in the lead when the caution came out. He told NBC he was really hoping that a caution flag wasn’t going to come out in the final laps. Unfortunately, the hopes were crushed.
He looked shocked as the NBC cameras showed him sitting in his No. 11 Toyota. He won six races during the year, but failed to finish ahead of Larson to secure what would have been the first championship of his career.
Instead, it was Larson, who did just enough to hold the trophy at the end. He had three wins on the year and held his own in the playoffs to become one of the Championship Four drivers. He didn’t lead any laps in the championship race.

Byron, who won the Martinsville race to get into the championship, finished in 33rd. He led 52 laps and gave Hamlin the biggest run for his money for most of the race.
Briscoe finished in 18th. He led three laps.
Ryan Blaney won the race itself. He finished ahead of Brad Keselowski and Larson. Joey Logano and Kyle Busch rounded out the top five.
Larson became the third Hendrick Motorsports driver to win multiple NASCAR Cup Series titles, joining Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson.

The Bears were up 41-27 when D.J. Moore took an end around play to the end zone with 4:53 remaining in the game. Chicago nearly sealed the game when Terrell Edmunds picked off Flacco and ran it back for what was thought to be a touchdown. However, officials determined that Edmunds was down by contact and negated the 96-yard return.
Chicago went three-and-out on its next drive. Flacco then led the Bengals on a four-play, 55-yard drive that ended with a touchdown pass to Noah Fant. The Bengals needed the ball to bounce their way on the onside kick attempt, and it did.
Flacco then needed only six plays to find Andrei Iosivas for the go-ahead score. The momentum was firmly on the Bengals’ side.

Williams got the ball back with less than a minute to play – and it wasn’t looking great. He threw two incompletions before he scampered for 14 yards to extend the drive.
The second-year quarterback threw a dart to rookie tight end Colston Loveland in the middle of the field. Loveland bounced off two defenders and ran for a touchdown. The 58-yard play gave the Bears the lead and eventually the win.
The two teams combined for 1,071 total yards and 89 points on 141 plays.
Williams was 20-of-34 with 280 passing yards, two touchdown passes and a receiving touchdown. Williams actually had two catches in the game.
Bears running back Kyle Monangai, a former Rutgers standout, had 26 carries for 176 yards. Loveland finished with six catches for 118 yards and two touchdown catches.
Flacco had one of the best statistical games of his career. He was 31-of-47 with 470 passing yards, four touchdown passes and two interceptions.
