Taylor Swift shares why nostalgic ‘22′ moment is important to her
Taylor Swift is opening up about why one of the most emotional and fan-favourite moments of the Eras Tour means so much to her.
In episode six of her Disney+ docuseries The End of an Era, the singer reflects on the nostalgia and personal connection behind performing 22 each night and reviving a look that longtime fans instantly recognise.
During the episode, Swift explains that the moment is rooted in the original Red Tour, where the song became closely tied to a playful, carefree image.
“The 22 moment stems from a hat that I wore on the Red Tour,” Swift says as footage shows her in a white T-shirt reading “Not a lot going on at the moment,” paired with glittery shorts and a black fedora.
“So, I wanted to really bring back that moment of just kinda like, have a moment with a fan, where I actually get close with them.”
That idea comes to life throughout the tour as Swift kneels down, hugs young fans, and places the fedora on their heads during the performance.
According to Swift, the child she shares the moment with is never chosen in advance by her.
“I’ve got people in the audience scouring the crowd for the first couple of ‘eras,’ trying to find a kid who knows every single word to the songs and having the time of their life at this show,” she explains.
She adds that “that kid basically is like a representative of every kid in that crowd that night.”
Swift also points out how different each interaction can be, depending on the child. Some become shy under the massive spotlight, while others instantly light up.
“It could be, like, a little kid that gets really shy when all of a sudden they’re seeing 60,000 people for the first time,” she says.
“Or, it could be, there are kids that just like bloom under the bright lights, and they’re like, ‘Oh my God I’m a pop star now.’”
For Swift, these brief exchanges are powerful reminders of why she performs.
“Everything’s going on around us and somehow we’re able to just have this moment be completely between us,” she says. “We’re just meeting each other and everyone else kind of disappears for a second. It just reminds me why I do it.”
The Eras Tour has featured countless versions of this now-iconic 22 moment, each one different but equally meaningful.
Fans can see more behind-the-scenes insight in the final two episodes of The End of an Era, now streaming on Disney+.

King Charles silent on Epstein question as crowd shouts ‘kick him out’
King Charles found himself in the spotlight again for an unexpected reason during his visit to Clitheroe as he continued his tour connecting with local farmers and business owners.
The trip, meant to highlight rural initiatives, was briefly interrupted when a member of the public shouted questions about the King’s brother, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, and his links to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
The heckler, positioned behind the gathered crowd at the town’s train station, demanded: “How long have you known about Andrew and Epstein?”
The moment sparked a quick response from royalist onlookers, who loudly urged him to “Shut up” and called for his removal.
He was also asked whether his family would assist with the Epstein investigation, but he offered no comment.
Another bystander stepped in, escorting the man away as cheers and applause followed from the crowd.
This marks the second public confrontation the monarch has faced in less than a week, following a similar disruption during a visit to Essex.
Despite the distractions, King Charles remained focused on his engagements, meeting representatives from Field Nurses.

The King also met shire horses Thunder and Regal during visit to 700 year old Samlesbury Hall in Preston.

The evolution of the quad, ice skating’s most daring jump
The scariest jump in ice skating requires your shoulders, hips, knees and feet to be in perfect alignment.
All of your body weight must be concentrated because it’s the only way to build enough power to complete at least four full revolutions in the air and land backwards on one blade. Everything happens in less than a second.
“Your legs are on fire,” said Timothy Goebel, the first skater to land three quads in one program, which earned him an Olympic bronze in 2002.
“Your lungs are screaming at you, like your body is just wrecked,” Goebel said. “You have to have that jump so ingrained in your muscle memory, but it’s also a lot of mental fortitude.”
It’s called a quadruple jump, or quad for short, and while it’s still redefining women’s figure skating, it’s become a necessity in the men’s programs.
The more advanced sibling to the quad is a quad axel, which requires a forward-facing takeoff and a full four-and-a-half revolutions in the air. Ilia Malinin, who already helped to lead the U.S. to gold in the team event at the 2026 Winter Olympics, is the only skater ever to land a quad axel in competition when he stunned the 2022 crowd at the U.S. International Figure Skating Classic.

“I never thought I would see one in competition,” Goebel said. “The fact that he can do a quad axel almost every day in practice with relative ease is mind-blowing.”
Patrick Blackwell, a 2026 U.S. Junior Men’s National Champion, already performs multiple quads in competition. He uses a pole harness, like most skaters, to practice the quads he hasn’t yet mastered. It’s a lot of falling over and over again in the pursuit of greatness.
But Blackwell has one thing on his side that Goebel didn’t: analytics.
“What they do is measure your height, your rotational speed and variations in any patterns that they can see in the jumps,” Blackwell explained.
No matter how it’s achieved, the quad is now critical in men’s competition, and it will surely be on display during the Milano Cortina Games.
Goebel said it was crucial to his bronze medal win.
“For me, in 2002, it was no quad, no medal, full stop,” he said.
And now?
“No quad, no top ten!” Goebel laughed. “The standard has risen from 2002, and I think that’s overwhelmingly a positive.”
When asked how he feels about how far it could go, though, Goebel was measured.
“I think that’s the exciting part about sport and about the whole Olympic movement,” he said. “But I think we’re close to that bound of like, tapping out the human ability.”
