Original ‘Harry Potter’ actor returns to new remake
The remake of Harry Potter sees the makers seeking new actors for the iconic franchise’s roles.
Except for one. According to reports, Warwick Davis, who portrayed Griphook and Professor Filius Flitwick in the movies, is returning to the reboot for the latter character.
He is perhaps the first actor from the film franchise to appear in the series, while Leigh Gill will play Griphook, a Gringotts Wizarding Bank employee, in the show.
The cast announcement, along with others, happened at the Hogwarts celebration. Elijah Oshin as Dean Thomas, Finn Stephens as Vincent Crabbe, and William Nash as Gregory Goyle.
Moreover, Sirine Saba as Professor Pomona Sprout, Richard Durden as Professor Cuthbert Binns, and Bríd Brennan as Madam Poppy Pomfrey.
As a newer cast has been announced, the series has previously shared the casting of the main characters.
John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, and Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid.
Further, Bertie Carvel will play Minister of Magic Cornelius Fudge, and Johnny Flynn will portray Draco’s father, Lucius Malfoy.
Filming for the Harry Potter series is ongoing, with the final installment scheduled for release in 2027.

R&B star Montell Jordan has revealed his prostate cancer has returned, less than a year after announcing he was cancer-free.
The This Is How We Do It singer was first diagnosed in January 2024 and underwent a radical prostatectomy to remove his prostate gland later that year.
He declared himself free of the illness months later, but during an appearance on NBC’s Today on Wednesday, Jordan confirmed the cancer had been detected again.
Jordan said, “I always imagined I would be telling my prostate cancer story from the other side because my prostate was removed and the margins were clear. But close to a year later, I still need to go back for additional treatments because cancer has been detected.”
According to Daily Mail, a follow-up examination nine months after his surgery found small traces of cancer in lymph nodes on the left side of his body and in the prostate bed.
Moreover, Jordan will now begin proton radiation therapy five days a week for seven weeks, combined with hormone blockers designed to prevent testosterone from fueling the cancer’s growth.
Despite the setback, Jordan is staying positive: “It’s a seven-and-a-half week interruption of life to make sure I have a longer life. I believe this treatment will eradicate the cancer and allow me to keep living with a great quality of life.”
Additionally, Jordan credited his wife Kristin, their five children, and nonprofit ZERO Prostate Cancer for supporting him through the journey.
As per the outlet, he has also joined forces with the organization to advocate for routine screenings, particularly for Black men, who face a significantly higher risk of prostate cancer.
Furthermore, the singer is set to share his health battle in an upcoming documentary, Sustain, which he launched on Instagram this week.
In this regard, he wrote, “Never thought I would be here. We can’t wait for y’all to hear and see the story. The documentary is transformative.”

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has unearthed a major scandal and found Customs officers involved in collusion with the Motor Registration Authorities (MRAs) and car dealers in the regularisation of over 100 smuggled vehicles, The News reported on Thursday.
It may be recalled that in order to strengthen control mechanisms and prevent the misuse of auctioned vehicles, FBR in August 2021 introduced the “Auction Module” in its WeBOC system.
This system enhancement was aimed at addressing the issue of multiple vehicles being registered against documents issued by Customs after the auction of confiscated smuggled vehicles.
Through this module, MRAs were enabled to verify auctioned vehicle details online before registration, significantly reducing reliance on paper-based manual verifications. The goal was to both strengthen institutional controls and facilitate legitimate buyers.
However, despite these reforms, reports emerged in July 2025 regarding the misuse of the aforementioned Auction Module. In response, FBR immediately initiated an inquiry into the matter.
Since the module’s launch, details of 1,909 vehicles had been uploaded on the system. Upon detailed scrutiny, it was discovered that 103 of these vehicles had been fraudulently uploaded using fake user identities. MRAs had already registered 43 out of these 103 smuggled vehicles, effectively granting them an appearance of legal clearance.
Based on a digital audit and internal investigations, the FBR identified the user IDs through which the fraud was committed. As a result, on July 9, 2025, FBR suspended one Deputy Collector and one Assistant Collector, whose credentials had been misused in the commission of this crime.
The investigation further revealed that this was part of a wider criminal racket involving officials from MRAs and car dealers. Recognising the gravity of the issue, FBR determined that the matter warranted action beyond internal disciplinary proceedings.
Accordingly, a formal request by FBR was made on July 9, 2025 for the constitution of a Joint Investigation Committee (JIT), comprising senior officers from the FIA, Customs and Intelligence Agencies. The JIT was tasked with a comprehensive probe into the scam, including the manipulation of the Customs digital system.
Following FBR’s formal complaint to FIA dated 10th July, 2025, the JIT commenced its investigation. As a result, on 28th August, 2025, the FIA lodged an FIR against already identified officers, after being found involved in fraudulently legalising smuggled vehicles.
On Wednesday, these individuals were formally arrested by FIA.
It is also pertinent to mention that Customs Enforcement has so far lodged seven FIRs and arrested 13 individuals in connection with this broader scam.
