Ashley Tisdale denies Mandy Moore, Hilary Duff were part of toxic mom group

Tisdale, 40, shares two young daughters with her husband Christopher French

Ashley Tisdale is clearing the air after her viral comments about friendship fallouts amid motherhood.

In a statement to TMZ, the High School Musical alum’s representative shut down claims that Mandy Moore, Hilary Duff, and Meghan Trainor were part of the so-called “toxic mom group” Tisdale described in her recent essay for The Cut.

The rep clarified on Monday, January 5, that Tisdale, 40, was not referring to Moore, 41, Duff, 38, or Trainor, 32. He stressed that the essay was meant to explore a relatable experience rather than call out specific people, and that it has been “twisted into clickbait.”

In the essay, titled “Breaking Up With My Toxic Mom Group,” the Phineas and Ferb voice actress reflected on the emotional impact of feeling quietly pushed out of a close-knit circle. Tisdale prefaced the essay by warning readers to refrain from speculation about who she’s referring to. “Please, don’t even try — whatever you think is true isn’t even close,” she wrote, though the disclaimer was ultimately futile.

Tisdale, who shares daughters Jupiter, 4, and Emerson, 15 months, with husband Christopher French, explained that the group formed during the pandemic after she welcomed her first child in 2021. Over time, however, she began to feel excluded. “I remember being left out of a couple of group hangs,” she wrote, noting that social media made the distance impossible to ignore.

Eventually, French confronted the group, texting that “this is too high school for me, and I don’t want to take part in it anymore.” While some tried to smooth things over, she said the dynamic never fully recovered.

“To be clear, I have never considered the moms to be bad people,” she added. “But I do think our group dynamic stopped being healthy and positive — for me, anyway.”

Christina Applegate admitted to hospital amid MS battle: Report

Applegate, 54, also battled breast cancer in 2008

Christina Applegate is currently hospitalised in Los Angeles amid her debilitating battle with multiple sclerosis.

The Emmy-winning actress, who revealed her diagnosis in 2021, was hospitalised in March, TMZ reported on Thursday, April 16. The exact reason for her hospitalisation is not clear.

Applegate’s representative told TMZ, “I have no comment whether she is in the hospital or what her medical treatments are. She’s had a long history of complicated medical conditions that she has been refreshingly open about, as evidenced in her memoir and on her podcast.”

Indeed, the Friends alum has been open about her health struggles on her MeSsy podcast, which she co-hosts with Jamie-Lynn Sigler. In February, Applegate published her memoir, You With the Sad Eyes, which details her tumultuous upbringing in L.A., teen fame, abusive relationships, and her health struggles.

Prior to her MS diagnosis, Applegate, 54, battled breast cancer in 2008 and underwent a double mastectomy.

In 2011, she welcomed her only child, daughter Sadie Grace LeNoble, with her husband Martyn LeNoble. She is also a stepmother to Martyn’s older daughter, Marlon.

In an interview with People magazine in February, Applegate revealed that she is confined to her bed for a good portion of her day, except for when she takes her daughter to school.

“I want to take her; it’s my favorite thing to do,” she said. “I tell myself, ‘Just get her there safely and get home so you can get back into bed.”

Hailee Steinfeld and Rashida Jones join hands for new movie

Hailee Steinfeld and Rashida Jones are joining forces for Disney’s next big animated feature, Hexed, which is set to hit cinemas this autumn on 25 November.

The news was shared during Disney’s presentation at CinemaCon on Thursday, where the studio revealed that the original film will follow the story of a teenage oddball and her “Type A” mother.

The plot centres on the pair discovering that the daughter’s traits are actually a form of hidden magic, a revelation that eventually transports them both to a fantastical world where magic is allowed to run free.

Steinfeld, an Oscar nominee known for her roles in True Grit and the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse series, will star alongside Jones, a fan favourite from Parks and Recreation and On the Rocks.

Beyond the reveal of Hexed, Disney used its time in Las Vegas to showcase a packed slate of upcoming projects to theatre owners.

Exhibitors were treated to exclusive footage from several highly anticipated titles, including the live-action remake of Moana, The Devil Wears Prada 2, and Toy Story 5

The studio also teased its next major superhero entry, Avengers: Doomsday, making it clear that while original stories like Hexed are a priority, the company is still leaning heavily into its biggest cinematic universes to keep audiences coming back to the big screen.
