Darth Vader’s lightsaber sells at auction for over $3.6 million

A lightsaber Darth Vader used in the Star Wars films “The Empire Strikes Back” and “Return of the Jedi” sold at auction Thursday for more than $3.6 million.
The iconic prop had been estimated to sell for between $1 and $3 million, according to the auction site Propstore, which hosted the bidding. There were 31 bids, with the winning one at $3,654,000.
“Wielded by both David Prowse” — the Darth Vader actor — “and stunt performer Bob Anderson, this is the primary dueling prop created for Vader’s character in both Empire and Jedi,” the site says. “It saw extensive use during the filming of both movies and is one of the most memorable film props from the original trilogy.”
The lightsaber was sold in a Los-Angeles based auction of over 1,000 Hollywood costumes, props and more. Brandon Alinger, the CEO of Propstore, said they received a “cold call” about the lightsaber on a Friday afternoon — a “gentleman called in and said, ‘I have a lightsaber.'”
“We were able to work out not only which character used it, but exactly how it’s used,” Alinger told CBS News, “and you can see the small steel post that comes out of the top of it here, that’s how they actually mounted the blade on it.”

Propstore says the lightsaber was made from a 1950s camera flash bulb attachment and “expertly modified by the production team into a lightsaber.” It says the piece “bears authentic signs of wear” that “serve as compelling evidence of the lightsaber’s direct involvement in the action — testament to its film-used authenticity.”
“It’s really an unprecedented piece,” Alinger said.
The auction, which is ongoing through Saturday, was offering virtual and in-person bidding at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles. It was expected to net around $10 million.

Brooklyn Beckham cuts ties with Romeo and Cruz amid ongoing family feud?

The Beckham family drama appears to be far from over.
As per Us Weekly, tensions between the family members have continued to escalate and this has left Brooklyn Beckham estranged not just from his parents, but also from his younger brothers.
“There is still a huge rift in the family,” a source confirmed.
“Brooklyn has not reconciled with David or Victoria and is not speaking to Romeo or Cruz either. The relationships are all still strained.”
The feud made headlines earlier this year when Brooklyn and wife Nicola Peltz skipped David Beckham’s milestone 50th birthday celebration in May.
At the time, insiders claimed that Brooklyn’s absence was due to his disapproval of Romeo’s then-girlfriend, Kim Turnbull.
However, even after Romeo and Kim’s split in June, the family tensions have shown little sign of easing.
“It’s been heartbreaking for Victoria and David to not have all their children together during huge press events for the family, like Victoria’s documentary release,” the insider said, referencing the October 9 premiere of the former Spice Girl’s Netflix series.
“It was such a big moment for the family, and she wanted everyone together to celebrate it,” the source noted about Victoria Beckham.

Ryan Reynolds, Rob McElhenney’s planning new big win

Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney are expanding their Wrexham empire.
Reportedly, this time the duo is bringing back one of Wales’ most iconic brews.
According to the latest report of Daily Mail, the dynamic duo are planning to revitalise the historic Wrexham Lager beer brand, with a proposal that includes a brewery, taproom, and museum.
An application for the project reportedly stated, “The Wrexham Lager proposals, consisting of a brewery and associated taproom and museum, will utilise existing buildings on the site.”
It is noterworthy that Reynolds and McElhenney became co-owners of Wrexham Lager in 2024, one of the football club’s sponsors, and are now aiming to breathe new life into one of the world’s oldest lagers.
Ryan has been said to be particularly eager to create a venue that provides “an attractive welcome to the city of Wrexham.”
The proposed super brewery and visitors’ centre would include tasting rooms open to match-day fans and tourists, offering a unique blend of sport and local heritage.
The Welsh football club, which the Hollywood stars famously co-own, made history earlier this year by becoming the first team in the English league system to win three consecutive promotions, securing a spot in the Championship at the end of the 2024/25 season.

Jennifer Aniston reveals how she takes out time for herself

Jennifer Aniston, famously known for her role of Rachel Green in Friends, has opened up taking out time for herself.
Speaking with People Magazine, Aniston shared that she’s learning to balance her work schedule with personal time.
Aniston told the outlet, “This is another thing that I’ve gotten really good at in the last couple of years, is carving out time.”
“Just saying to the team, ‘The month of blanky blank is off.’ We’re not going to do anything for whatever happens to be the month that would work that year,” The Morning Show star added.
She went on to reveal that she tells her team, “‘I’m going to take off. I’m going to have a vacation. There’s going to be no work.’ And you just kind of have to put it on your calendar.”
Aniston added, “I think it’s so important because, if we’re running on fumes because we are working too hard and not giving ourselves the opportunity to refuel our bodies mentally and physically, we’re useless.”
“We’re cranky, we’re fatigued, we’re under-slept. I think that the importance of that [rest] and recharge is imperative,” she noted.
Jennifer Aniston broke on screen as Rachel Green on Friends more than 30 years ago, and ever since the actress’ career has soared.
