Dick Van Dyke wife recalls horrible ordeal after Rob, Michele murder
Dick Van Dyke’s 100th birthday weekend was meant to be a joyful milestone but was overshadowed by tragedy and fear.
The legendary actor and his wife Arlene Silver are mourning the shocking deaths of longtime friends Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner, while also confronting a disturbing stalker situation at their Malibu home.
The 54-year-old took to her Instagram Stories December 16 to share that she has been followed for months by a man lingering around Van Dyke’s public appearances.
“There’s someone kind of stalking me around Malibu,” she shared, admitting she was too afraid to attend her daily yoga class.
“And I don’t feel comfortable going out, on top of everything else,” she added.
“I go to yoga for my mental health and just to move my body, and there’s some guy, just, you know, he’s been hanging around all the Dick Van Dyke stuff, and I said something to him yesterday, and hopefully…” she elaborated. “It’s hard to explain, but I don’t want to give him any attention.”
She continued, “It sucks, but that’s the one hour that I leave to do something for myself. So, hopefully, he will go away, or else I’m gonna have to have a bodyguard escort me to my yoga class. Like, really?”
The timing of her revelation coincided with devastating news.
On December 14, Rob and Michele Reiner were found dead in their Brentwood home.

Nick Reiner, Rob Reiner’s son, to appear in court on 2 counts of murder in killing of his parents
Nick Reiner is scheduled to appear in a California court on Wednesday on two counts of murder in the killing of his parents, Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner.
The arraignment and plea hearing, which will mark the first time Nick Reiner is appearing in court related to the killings, is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. PT (11:30 a.m. Eastern).
The 32-year-old is being charged with two counts of first-degree murder with special circumstances, Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman announced on Tuesday. Hochman said the charges carry a maximum sentence of life in prison without parole or the death penalty, but that his office hasn’t decided which to pursue.
Newly released video shows Nick Reiner inside a gas station convenience store hours after the killings and just moments before he was arrested on Sunday. Video from outside the store shows the LAPD arriving and arresting him. He did not resist arrest, according to police.
He is now being held without bail in a jail in downtown Los Angeles.
The district attorney’s office confirmed in a statement that Rob and Michele Reiner were stabbed to death. It wasn’t clear as of Wednesday morning when exactly the attack happened, or how long the couple had been dead before their bodies were discovered on Sunday. The day before, they had gone to a party at Conan O’Brien’s, where Rob and Nick Reiner had a brief but loud argument, sources who were there told CBS News.
Police have not released details about evidence in the case, or any information about a possible motive or what led them to arrest Nick Reiner.
Rob Reiner, 78, first gained fame in the CBS sitcom “All in the Family” for playing Archie Bunker’s son-in-law Mike “Meathead” Stivic. He later became highly regarded for directing films including “The Princess Bride,” “A Few Good Men,” and “When Harry Met Sally…” Michele, 68, was a photographer who took the photo of President Trump that was used on the cover of his book “The Art of the Deal,” according to Variety.
“Their loss is beyond tragic and we will commit ourselves to bringing their murderer to justice,” Hochman said Tuesday. He added that this type of case is “the most serious charge the DA’s office can bring against anyone.”
On the day the couple was found dead, they had plans with their longtime friends Michelle Obama and former President Barack Obama, according to the former first lady.
“We were supposed to be seeing them that night, last night, and we got the news,” Michelle Obama said during an interview on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” Monday night.

Queen Camilla fears grow after Princess Kate quiet upgrade in monarchy
Queen Camilla and Kate Middleton have mostly put up a friendly front for the public, but whispers from the Palace tell a tale of simmering tensions.
The Princess of Wales holds a special place in King Charles’s heart given their many public interactions and the prominent roles she often performs on behalf of the monarch. It was notable how Princess Catherine had stolen the limelight during this year’s three state visits.
However, this popularity of Kate, even though she scaled back her royal duties following her cancer battle, has only grown over time. This fact reportedly does not sit well with Queen Camilla.
According to insiders, in Kate’s recent appearance, it was a great indicator of how she has received a quiet promotion in the monarchy. She and Prince William have already been putting plans in motion for big change, and the King is not opposed to it.
The Prince and Princess of Wales have been planning to further slim the monarchy and put in strict rules for royal duties judged on merit and accountability.
“The old guard is not happy about this, especially Queen Camilla, who does not appreciate being told what standard she has to meet,” a source told Heat World. “But Kate is stronger than people think and she is not stepping back.”
The report comes after Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was stripped off of his royal titles and honours, with sources claiming William had a big hand in it. The Heat source said that Kate is “very much William’s partner in every way” and helps placate matters when the escalate.
Camilla is seemingly offended that Kate is already making demands even before she has become Queen.
Kate’s new ideas and the strict rules she’s demanding before she becomes Queen has put some noses out of joint. She is stepping up and the way she carried the Oriental Circlet Tiara at the State Banquet rather than her preferred Lover’s Knot Tiara, it indicates that change is very well on its way.
