Trump goes from eye rolling at Charles to hailing him ‘the greatest’ King

Last week’s State Visit saw Donald Trump and King Charles all smiles, getting warm compliments and easy laughter as they wrapped up their meeting at the White House.

Trump hailed the monarch as “the greatest King” and repeatedly described him as “fantastic,” capping off a surprisingly cordial encounter on the global stage.

During their first meeting back in 2019, Charles was still Prince of Wales, hosting Trump for tea at Clarence House reportedly fell flat.

According to former White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham and detailed in Susan Page’s book The Queen and Her Presidents, Trump later complained the conversation had been “terrible,” saying it focused on “nothing but climate change.”

Even Melania Trump reportedly joked that her husband had been “very bored.”

Now King, Charles stepped onto the world stage with renewed authority during a high-profile State Visit that took in New York, Washington D.C., and Virginia, before continuing on to Bermuda solo.

The visit marked one of the most significant diplomatic moments of his reign so far and perhaps his most closely watched.

At the heart of it was a landmark address to the U.S. Congress, where the King received multiple standing ovations, earning praise for his message on global cooperation, sustainability, and shared values.

Hantavirus outbreak on cruise ship prompts WHO to issue evacuation orders

The Hantavirus outbreak on a Dutch cruise ship has now pushed the WHO to issue evacuation orders.

The UN health agency said on Tuesday, May 5, it issued evacuation orders for two passengers onboard MD Hondius ship, fearing human-to-human transmission can’t be ruled out.

To facilitate the evacuation of two individuals, WHO medics would board the vessel.

In a latest update, Dr. Maria Van Kerkhove, WHO director for Epidemic and Pandemic Preparedness and Prevention, briefed the media on the hantavirus outbreak.

She said, “We do know that some of the cases had very close contact with each other and certainly human-to-human transmission can’t be ruled out so as a precaution this is what we are assuming.”

The Hantavirus has so far claimed three lives, with several others falling ill.

Among the deceased are a Dutch couple and a German national, while one British national is said to be still in intensive care in South Africa.

There are 150 people, including 17 U.S. nationals, who remain stuck on the MV Hondius that is sailing off the coast of West Africa.

The outbreak was first reported on the Netherlands based cruise MV Hondius, which was sailing between Argentina and Cape Verde on Sunday, May 3, 2026.

Earlier on Tuesday, May 4, a WHO official had said, “There was no need for panic and the risk to the public was low.”

Bella Hadid boycotts Met Gala despite sister Gigi attending

Bella Hadid criticises Met Gala 2026 for having Trump supporter Jeff Bezos as a sponsor and co-chair

Bella Hadid made a conscious decision to not attend the Jeff Bezos-backed Met Gala this year, despite her older sister Gigi Hadid attending.

The 29-year-old supermodel, who has been very politically active these past few years, sat out fashion’s biggest night for the fourth year in a row. Although she has not publicly commented on the reason for her absence this year, Bella’s social media activity confirmed she is boycotting the event due to Jeff Bezos serving as a sponsor and a co-chair.

Three days ahead of the event, Bella “liked” a video by writer and comedian Meredith Lynch, who points out the hypocrisy of wearing an “ICE OUT” pin to the Met Gala.

“You cannot wear the ICE OUT pin to the Jeff-Bezos-backed Met Gala. Jeff Bezos is part of the reason we’re in this f***ing mess. Jeff Bezos supports this f***ing mess,” Lynch explains in the video, noting that although the funds from the event “go to a good cause,” it is impossible to reconcile the fact that the Met Gala is sponsored by Bezos, who in turn backs President Donald Trump.

Another celebrity voicing their disapproval was Taraji P. Henson, who wrote in the comments section of Lynch’s video: “I am so confused by some ppl that are going. I am just like WTF ARE WE DOING!?!?!?!”
