‘The View’ breaks silence on Jimmy Kimmel’s suspension

‘The View’ hosts speak out against Jimmy Kimmel’s suspension

Since the suspension of Jimmy Kimmel over slain Charlie Kirk’s killer remarks, many stars in Hollywood have spoken out. Now, The View is sharing its protest.

Whoopi Goldberg, one of the show’s co-hosts, said in the show on Monday, “Did y’all really think we weren’t going to talk about Jimmy… have you watched the show over the last 29 seasons? No one silences us.”

She continues, “When the news broke last week about Jimmy Kimmel’s suspension, we took a breath to see if Jimmy was going to say anything about it first.”

“You cannot like a show and it can go off the air. Someone can say something they shouldn’t and get taken off the air. But the government cannot apply pressure to force someone to be silenced.”

Alyssa Farah Griffin also chimed in: “The First Amendment is the first for a reason, because you need to be able to hold those in power accountable.”

In the end, Whoopi concludes, “We talk about freedom of speech a lot because we are always in somebody’s mess because somebody has decided that we have said something that’s offensive.”

“But we fight for everybody’s right to have freedom of speech because it means my speech is free, it means your speech is free.”

The hosts of The View’s remarks on Jimmy’s suspension come after speculation among fans whether ABC instructed them to be silent on the matter, as their show also airs on the network.

Kim Kardashian reunites with Kanye West for Christmas with kids: Report

The former spouses put aside their differences for the sake of their kids North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West quietly came together over the Christmas holidays, setting aside years of co-parenting tension to spend time with their four children.

TMZ reported on December 30 that the former couple — who were married from 2014 to 2022 — reunited to celebrate the festive period with North, 12, Saint, 9, Chicago, 7, and Psalm, 5. Sources told the outlet that the atmosphere was respectful and calm, with both parents focused squarely on their children. Insiders said Kim and Ye are actively trying to improve their co-parenting dynamic, a notable shift after years of public conflict and estrangement.

The unexpected holiday reunion followed what sources described as a period of reflection for Ye. The Grammy-winning rapper is said to have been “working on himself” and reassessing his past behaviour earlier this year, including his widely condemned antisemitic remarks and praise of Adolf Hitler.

The outlet also noted a change in West’s approach to daughter North’s growing presence online, as he now supports North’s social media activity and has encouraged her to share music and creative projects tied to him. While he was once hesitant about her being online at a young age, he has reportedly embraced her individuality, fashion choices, and blue hair.

The reunion stands in contrast to Kim’s recent comments about the strain of co-parenting. On an episode of The Kardashians, she admitted feeling overwhelmed at times.

“Sometimes I just feel like snapping, but I can’t. I just can’t,” the SKIMS founder said, adding that her “only focus and job” is to remain “strong” for her children.

Meta’s messenger application, WhatsApp, has launched an update introducing 2026 stickers just ahead of the New Year.

WhatsApp stated that its festive update — including interactive video call effects, message reactions, and a sticker pack for status updates — is designed to help users celebrate and connect creatively.

The update also comes with special Lottie sticker, introduced for both group and individual chats, adding a festive tone to conversations.

Users will also be able to place the 2026 sticker inside status layouts, allowing them to highlight the 2026 transition with photos or videos.

Other features include new video call effects, letting users tap the effects icon to add fireworks, confetti, and star animations during calls.

WhatsApp, which handles 100 billion messages and two billion calls regularly, has launched such festive stickers for the first time to make its updates more visually appealing.

The messaging platform has also provided tips for smoother New Year’s planning in group chats, allowing users to create events and pin them to the top of the chat to keep everyone on the same page.

WhatsApp said these features were aimed at helping users stay close no matter where they are, making it easier to connect and celebrate together.

China says to launch digital currency action plan

China will on January 1 launch an “action plan” for boosting management and operations of its digital currency, a deputy governor of the country’s central bank said Monday.

“The future digital yuan will be a modern digital payment and circulation means issued and circulated within the financial system,” People’s Bank of China (PBoC) Deputy Governor Lu Lei wrote in Financial News, a media outlet under the central bank.

In the next step towards that goal, a “new generation” arrangement for digital yuan will be launched on January 1, Lu said, encompassing a “measurement framework, management system, operating mechanism and ecosystem”.

The “action plan” will see banks pay interest on balances held by clients in digital yuan—a move to incentivise broader adoption of the currency.

The plan also includes a proposal to establish an international digital yuan operations centre in the eastern financial hub of Shanghai, the report said.

Monetary authorities around the world have in recent years been exploring ways to digitalise currencies, propelled by a boom in online payments during the pandemic and the increased popularity of cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin.

The PBoC has been working on a digital currency since 2014 and has been testing the use of a “digital yuan” or “e-CNY” in various pilot programmes.

Consumers across the country already widely use mobile and online payments, but the digital yuan could allow the central bank — rather than the big tech giants — access to more data and control over payments.
