Mexico imposes ADD on footwear originating in China

The notice regarding the decision was published in the official gazette. The ADD took effect from September 4.
Mexico’s economy and finance ministry recently imposed anti-dumping duty (ADD) on import of footwear originating in China following a probe that found such merchandise entered Mexico under dumping conditions, which affected the national footwear industry.
The ADD, between $0.54 and $22.50 per pair, took effect from September 4.
The anti-dumping investigation began on April 26, 2024.
“Consequently, in order to provide fair competition conditions and defend the interests of the national production plant, definitive compensatory quotas of between $0.54 and $22.50 per pair will be established on imports originating in China that enter below the reference price of $22.58 per pair. These quotas will be in effect for the next five years and may eventually be extended,” the ministry said in a statement.
The anti-dumping investigation began on April 26, 2024.
The products investigated included boots with synthetic uppers and soles; basic, formal and dress sandals with synthetic uppers and soles; athletic sneakers with synthetic uppers and soles; athletic sneakers with textile uppers and synthetic soles; casual footwear with textile uppers and synthetic soles; and basic, formal, and dress sandals with textile uppers and synthetic soles.
Meanwhile, a new customs law will be discussed in the country’s parliament, changes in which will strengthen the Mexican government’s oversight capacity and penalise those who misuse customs patents.
Measures are also being taken to protect the textile and footwear industries by reducing and stopping temporary import of finished products.

Dior names Greta Lee as brand ambassador

Published
September 12, 2025
Dior has named Greta Lee as its newest brand ambassador for the collections designed by Jonathan Anderson.
The American actress, acclaimed for her moving performance in Celine Song’s “Past Lives” and more recently in Kent Jones’ “Late Fame, has emerged as one of contemporary cinema’s most distinctive voices. Dior praised Lee’s “talent and instinctive elegance,” noting that this “inspiring new alliance resonates perfectly with the house’s ever-evolving creativity.”
Lee is the latest celebrity to be named a Dior ambassador since Anderson took the helm of the brand’s collections. Earlier this month, American actress Mikey Madison was announced in the same role, joining a roster of ambassadors that includes Anya Taylor-Joy, Jisoo, Anna Sawai, Camille Cottin, and Beatrice Borromeo.
The appointment highlights Anderson’s growing emphasis on connecting Dior to cinema. At this month’s Venice Film Festival, he dressed several stars — including Monica Barbaro, Alba Rohrwacher, and Mia Goth — in his first women’s designs for the house. Lee also appeared at the festival wearing multiple Dior looks.
Anderson joined Dior as creative director of women’s, men’s, and haute couture collections in late spring and presented his debut menswear show in Paris in June. His womenswear debut is set for October 1 during Paris Fashion Week.

Filipe Afonso and Ricardo Azevedo’s new vintage store, called Styx, which features signature pieces from brands such as Alexander McQueen, Dolce & Gabbana, Maison Margiela, Valentino, and Yves Saint Laurent, as well as an art gallery, opened its doors this summer at number 14 Rua do Heroísmo in Porto.
“We’re still amazed by the opening day! It far exceeded our expectations. Thank you to everyone who attended. It was amazing to meet so many nice and cool people — you’re all very special to us. That’s what motivates us, and we couldn’t be more excited about this new era,” say the mentors in a post published on the brand’s Instagram account.
“We’ll be adding new items regularly, and you’re always welcome to visit our art space Teodoro W. (@teodorowwww) in the basement, read a magazine or book, have a chat or a drink.”
“We’re open to proposals to occupy the space. If you have any ideas — events, activations, parties, collaborations, etc. — don’t hesitate to contact us,” they continue at @styxservice, adding: “You know where to find us,” from Tuesday to Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The name Styx comes from Greek mythology: “a goddess and also a river of the underworld, which marked the border and the contact between the world of the living and the dead,” they explain to NIP, confessing that it is “interesting that this image represents the way Styx works, resurrecting pieces from the past.”
After six months of buying and selling vintage and designer pieces online as a preview of their business, the two partners from Porto — trained in the arts and communication — opened Styx, where they bring together a diverse range of accessories, clothes, and shoes from various brands.

In short, the items on sale in this, Styx’s first physical store, are purchased online by the duo and/or in Portuguese and international fashion markets, as well as directly from those who come to the store to sell their own items. In the latter case, if they are not sold within two months, they are returned to their owner.
