Netflix shares have been under pressure since late June, with selling intensifying in October after the company emerged as a potential buyer of Warner Bros. Discovery.

Since June 30, Netflix stock has fallen roughly one-third from its peak.

The stock recently hit its lowest intraday level since April, dropping about 2% on Friday, according to GuruFocus.

Despite the decline, Netflix trades at roughly 28 times expected earnings for the next 12 months, higher than streaming rivals Disney, Amazon, and Alphabet, as well as the S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100.

However, this remains below its five-year average multiple of 34.

Investors are focused more on deal uncertainty than Netflix’s day-to-day operations. The stock fell 10% on October 22, its worst single-day drop in over three years, following earnings that raised concerns about future growth.

Attention then shifted to the potential $82.7 billion Warner Bros. acquisition, with shareholders worried about the high cost and Netflix’s lack of experience with large mergers.

Warner Bros. recently rejected a bid from Paramount Skydance, which later confirmed a $30-per-share offer but faces financing challenges, GuruFocus reported. Since June, Netflix has become the fourth-worst performing stock in the Nasdaq 100.

Opinions on Netflix’s valuation remain divided. Some investors see opportunity if the acquisition happens near the current price, while others worry about integration risks and Warner Bros.’ heavy debt.

Christopher Brown of Synovus Securities highlighted Netflix’s price-earnings-to-growth ratio of just over one, noting, “This measure looks more balanced than simple valuation ratios.” 

He added the stock could rebound to $102.50–$109.70 if Netflix meets or beats fourth-quarter guidance.

Netflix is set to report earnings on January 20, with Wall Street expecting adjusted earnings of 56 cents per share on revenue of $12 billion.

Broader tech sentiment has been boosted by gains at other companies, including Alphabet, which is nearing a $4 trillion market value. 

Timothy Busfield, known for his role as Danny Concannon on The West Wing, is facing two counts of criminal sexual contact of a minor and one count of child abuse, according to New Mexico authorities.

An arrest warrant issued by the Albuquerque Police Department and obtained by People magazine on January 9, alleges that Busfield, 68, engaged in unlawful sexual conduct involving two 11-year-old siblings.

One of the minors claimed the alleged abuse began when he was 7 years old.

The investigation began on November 1, 2024, after a doctor at the University of New Mexico Hospital reported suspected abuse.

The children’s parents told police the boys were child actors who met Busfield on the set of the FOX series The Cleaning Lady, where he served as a director.

“It was reported that Timothy would tell his children to call him ‘Uncle Tim,’” the warrant states.

According to the warrant, a therapist later diagnosed one child with moderate PTSD and anxiety. The document alleges Busfield “had touched and rubbed his p***s 3 or 4 times and appeared to be ashamed.”

“[Victim] said he was afraid to tell anyone because Tim was the Director, and he feared Tim would get mad at him,” the warrant states.

Busfield denied inappropriate conduct, telling investigators, “It’s not allowed at all… There would never be a weird moment about it.”

Officer Marvin Kirk Brown wrote in the warrant, “In my training and experience, pedophiles often infiltrate families under a trusted role.”

Busfield allegedly acknowledged Warner Bros. conducted an outside investigation following complaints. 

Ella Purnell says fans of Fallout will see a shocking new side of Lucy MacLean in Season 2.

Speaking with Deadline about the episode titled The Demon in the Snow, now streaming on Prime Video, Purnell revealed she loved getting to explore Lucy’s more dangerous side during a drug-fueled sequence that temporarily removes the character’s fear of violence.

“I couldn’t believe it. I felt so scandalous. Coming from any other character, you’d be like, ‘Yeah, it’s just Fallout,’ but just something about it being Lucy, it feels scandalous. I couldn’t believe it. It’s like when you’re like little sister goes out and gets a little wild—it’s crazy,” she said.

“Very fun to see that side of her, to play that side of her, and also, a new experience for me. I haven’t done that a lot in my career. I didn’t know how it was gonna turn out. It turned out good, thank God, I think.”

Lucy’s violent shift happens after she receives a life-saving Buffout steroid drip following a near-death experience in the previous episode. Under the drug’s influence, her usual moral compass disappears, leading to a deadly — and comedic — killing spree.

“But yeah, very fun to play a side of Lucy that is fearless for once,” Purnell added. “But to play a character who truly doesn’t conceive the notion of death for just five minutes of the day… it changes all the tension in the scene… and I get to play with some comedy in there, it was really fun.”

Purnell also addressed switching between Lucy and her other role, serial killer Rhiannon Lewis in Sweetpea.

“It’s a weird switch to make actually,” she said. “I’m like, ‘Rhiannon would do that in a heartbeat.’”
