BBC’s ‘Lord of the Flies’ adaptation divides fans

The BBC’s new adaptation of Lord of the Flies has sparked a wave of strong reactions with many fans hailing it as “a masterpiece” while others criticizing its bold cinematography choices.

Adapted by Adolescence co-creator Jack Thorne, the four-part series reimagines William Golding’s 1954 novel about schoolboys stranded on an island after a plane crash.

Daily Mail reported that viewers flooded social media with praise for the performances, calling the acting “absolutely impeccable” and “exceptional.”

One fan wrote, “Haunted me when we read it at school in the 70s, this series is stunning, beautifully shot and absolutely impeccable acting…”

Another added, “…this is what the BBC does brilliantly.”

Many admitted they watched all four episodes in one sitting, describing the adaptation as “the best drama they have seen on the BBC for years.”

The series’ pacing and emotional depth were highlighted as standout qualities.

Not all feedback was glowing.

Some viewers complained about the use of a fisheye lens, which created distorted, surreal visuals.

Critics on X (formerly Twitter) called the filmmaking style “horrific” and “unwatchable,” with one remarking, “Look at me screams the cinematographer—takes you out of the film.”

Others felt the vivid color grading and lens choices distracted from the story.

Despite the backlash, the adaptation has clearly struck a chord with audiences, reigniting the haunting themes of Golding’s novel for a new generation.

For many, the BBC’s bold approach has produced a series that is both unsettling and unforgettable.

Bethenny Frankel defends Bad Bunny after Jill Zarin’s Super Bowl criticism

Bethenny Frankel defended Bad Bunny after her former Real Housewives of New York City costar Jill Zarin slammed his Super Bowl LX halftime performance.

Frankel took to TikTok to post a video February 9, to praise the Puerto Rican rapper’s set as authentic and inspirational.

“Bad Bunny is a Puerto Rican man in America on the largest stage in the world, which is very inspirational to people because that is him expressing his experience in his first language,” she explained.

Frankel compared his artistry to country and hip hop performers, saying each genre reflects its own culture and struggles.

“If it’s a country artist, they are expressing their experience and their music and their culture. If it’s a hip hop artist — I love Notorious B.I.G. and talking about his come up and what he couldn’t afford when he was eating Sardines for dinner.”

She summed it up with a nod to Madonna, “Express yourself.”

Zarin had a very different reaction to the enthralling and star-studded performance at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

In a now deleted video, she called the halftime show “the worst ever” and criticized Bad Bunny for performing in Spanish and for his onstage gestures.

“You’ve got all these young kids watching the Super Bowl, and he doesn’t have to be grabbing himself every five seconds because he’s so insecure,” she said, adding that she wished she understood the lyrics since she doesn’t speak Spanish.

The 62-year-old’s comments quickly circulated online sparking backlash.

The United States of America (USA) elected to bowl first after winning the toss against Pakistan in the 12th match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 at Sinhalese Sports Club Ground, Colombo, on Tuesday.

Pakistan and the USA have faced each other only once in T20 cricket.

In the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, the two sides clashed in a thrilling Group A match at Grand Prairie Cricket Stadium, Dallas, on June 6.

Pakistan posted 159/7 in 20 overs, with Babar Azam scoring 44 and Shadab Khan contributing 40.

USA replied with 159/3, anchored by a solid partnership including Monank Patel’s half-century.

The match was tied, forcing a Super Over, where the USA scored 18/1. Pakistan could only manage 13/1, handing the co-hosts a historic Super Over victory — one of the biggest upsets of the tournament.

Pakistan and USA enter the fixture with decent momentum in their favour as the Green Shirts have just one defeat in their last five completed T20Is, while USA have three triumphs in as many games.

The upcoming fixture marks the second game for both teams in the T20 World Cup 2026; Pakistan edged past the Netherlands by three wickets, while USA succumbed to a 29-run defeat at the hands of co-hosts and defending champions India.
