India crush UAE by 9 wickets in Asia Cup 2025 clash

- Kuldeep Yadav shines with four wickets for seven runs.
- Sharma smashes 30 as India chase target in 4.3 overs.
- Gill, Suryakumar seal victory with unbeaten partnership.
India began their ACC Men’s T20 Asia Cup 2025 campaign by inflicting a crushing defeat on the United Arab Emirates (UAE) at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Wednesday.
Chasing a modest 58-run target, the former champions comfortably knocked the winning runs for the loss of just one wicket and 93 balls to spare.
Leading the way for them was left-handed opener Sharma, who top-scored with a quickfire 30 off just 16 deliveries, studded with two fours and three sixes.
He was involved in a 48-run opening partnership with Shubman Gill, who remained unbeaten with 20 off nine deliveries, while skipper Suryakumar Yadav made seven not out.
For UAE, Junaid Siddique could pick up a wicket.
India captain Suryakumar Yadav’s decision to field first proved beneficial as his team’s dominant bowling performance bowled out UAE for 57 in 13.1 overs.
UAE, however, had a relatively decent start to their innings as their opening pair of Alishan Sharafu and skipper Muhammad Waseem put together 26 runs at a brisk rate.
The opening stand eventually culminated in the fourth over when Jasprit Bumrah outclassed Sharafu with a well-executed yorker. He remained the top scorer for UAE with 22 off 17 deliveries, featuring three fours and a six.
UAE then suffered another setback in the next over, when Varun Chakravarthy dismissed Muhammad Zohaib (two), and consequently slipped to 29/2.
Following the back-to-back blows, skipper Waseem registered a one-sided 18-run partnership for the third wicket with Rahul Chopra (three) before both perished in quick succession. Waseem scored a cautious 19 off 22 deliveries with the help of three fours.
His dismissal sparked a match-defining collapse, which saw UAE lose their remaining six wickets for just nine runs and were thus bowled out for a paltry total.
Kuldeep Yadav was the standout bowler for India, taking four wickets for just seven runs in his 2.1 overs, followed by Shivam Dube with three, while Axar Patel, Chakravarthy and Bumrah chipped in with one apiece.

Woman charged in deaths of Marquette athletes

MADISON, Wis. — A Wisconsin driver involved in a traffic crash last week that killed two Marquette University lacrosse players was drunk at the time, authorities alleged Wednesday in charging her with vehicular homicide.
Amandria Brunner, 41, of West Allis, faces two counts of homicide by an intoxicated use of a vehicle while having a prior intoxicant-related conviction. She faces up to 80 years in prison if convicted of both counts.
According to a criminal complaint, the crash happened on Friday in Milwaukee when Brunner tried to turn left in front of an SUV that was taking six Marquette men’s lacrosse players to a thrift store. Scott Michaud, a 19-year-old sophomore goalie and biomedical sciences major from Springboro, Ohio, and 20-year-old Noah Snyder, a sophomore attackman and business student from Irving, New York, were pronounced dead at the scene.
A witness told police that she helped Brunner out of her pickup truck and noticed Brunner smelled of alcohol and kept trying to put gum in her mouth. Police also found an open beer can in her truck, according to the criminal complaint.
Brunner’s blood, which was drawn about two hours after the crash, had a blood alcohol content of 0.133, which exceeds the state’s legal limit to drive of 0.08.
An analysis of the crash recorder in Brunner’s truck found that she had been stopped for about three seconds before she pulled into the intersection with the accelerator depressed almost all the way to the floor, according to the complaint. She was traveling just under 12 mph (19 kph) when she struck the SUV, and she never braked.
Brunner was convicted of operating while intoxicated in November 2003, the complaint says.
Online court records indicated Brunner was in custody in the Milwaukee County Jail on Wednesday. Records did not list an attorney for her.
Michaud and Snyder were named to the Big East’s all-academic team last year for maintaining grade-point averages of at least 3.0. Snyder played in 13 of Marquette’s 14 games last season, making three starts in the midfield and collecting nine goals and seven assists.

Chiefs’ Travis Kelce says he felt ‘like s—‘ after injuring teammate Xavier Worthy in collision

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!
Travis Kelce collided with and injured Xavier Worthy on the third play of the Kansas City Chiefs’ 27-21 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers last week in Brazil, and the star tight end opened up about the play during a recent episode of his podcast.
Kelce, 35, said he felt like “s—” after he ran into Worthy, who dislocated his shoulder on the play, per multiple reports.
“I owe my guy big time, man. X knows it. I felt like s—, I could barely even f—— play the rest of that first half but we geared it up once I found out that he was, you know, in better spirits than I imagined in halftime,” Kelce said during “New Heights.”

Kelce said that as a team they weren’t ready as leaders, and he took “the most accountability” for the play that injured Worthy.
“I wasn’t ready that first drive, I ran into one of my guys and offed him out of the game. I literally took one of my players out. That’s one of the most frustrating parts and it’s hard to get your juices back going knowing you just hurt a guy. It’s just … it’s a frustrating, frustrating, way to start off the season, frustrating way to start off the game,” Kelce said.
The 10-time Pro Bowler said he was running his route to set up Worthy with hopes that he could have sprung Worthy free.

“I’m supposed to be running my route at depth for Worthy, so it’s frustrating for me, I was trying to set up my guy to be able to get in a position, and it all just happened pretty quick,” Kelce said.
“I just got to be better, man. I’m 13 years in the league; there’s no excuse for me running into my own guys like that and being able to play fast and help them out. Worthy had his guy beat and we’re out the gate and that game starts completely different. Instead, not sure where he is exactly in terms of health wise, I’m hoping that we get him back as fast as possible because he means so much to this team.”
The four-time All-Pro said that the loss of Worthy wiped out one of the “biggest pieces” of the Chiefs’ game plan against the Chargers.

“The biggest thing is that he is one of our best players,” Kelce said. “He is going to take that step into being one of the best wide receivers in the National Football League and I run into him, and all of the sudden one of the biggest pieces of the game plan is out of the game. One of the fastest guys in the league and speed kills in this league, now they don’t have to worry about that.”
Kelce credited Hollywood Brown, Tyquan Thornton and JuJu Smith-Schuster for stepping up in Worthy’s absence.
It is unclear if Worthy will be able to play in the Chiefs’ highly anticipated Super Bowl rematch against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday at 4:25 p.m. ET on FOX.

Bouie gives Bama hoops 2nd top-50 commitment

Top-35 wing Tarris Bouie announced his commitment to Alabama on Wednesday, giving the Crimson Tide their second top-50 recruit of the week.
Bouie’s commitment comes just two days after Chris Washington Jr. picked Alabama. Both players visited Tuscaloosa last weekend and didn’t wait long to commit to Nate Oats and the Crimson Tide after returning home.
“Coach Oats recruited me hard, and I really like their style of play,” Bouie told ESPN. “Over the summer I remember him being at almost every one of my games. I really like their style of play, it fits me. That was big for me. They play fast, and in the open court they shoot 3s and attack the basket.”
Bouie built a strong connection with Oats and assistant coach Preston Murphy, whom Oats has previously called the “best recruiter in the country.”
“I have a very good relationship with Coach Oats, and we talk often, and that was the big difference,” he said. “He is a genuine guy. I also have a strong relationship with assistant coach Preston Murphy.”
Bouie, the No. 33-ranked player in the ESPN 100, had trimmed his list to Alabama, Cincinnati, Georgetown, Marquette, Mississippi State, NC State, Ole Miss and Texas last month, but ended up making just the Alabama trip before deciding. The 6-foot-7 wing averaged 15.5 points and 6.0 rebounds on the Nike EYBL circuit this past spring and summer, while showing some shooting ability by making five of his 12 3-point attempts during July’s Nike Peach Jam.
He is a gifted scorer with versatility and makes offense look easy with his natural instincts. Bouie’s greatest impact comes in the open floor because of his ability to put pressure on the defense as a pure scorer or playmaker. He displays a soft touch, explosiveness and can score at all three levels. Bouie also has considerable potential on the defensive end, given his length, frame and instincts. He has shown signs of being someone who can switch and guard four positions. He’ll need to improve his strength to better absorb contact on his drives and finishes, but when it comes to pure upside and sheer talent, he’s near the top of the class.
Bouie joins Washington Jr. in Alabama’s 2026 group.
Washington, out of Providence Christian Academy (Tennessee), is the top-ranked prospect in the state of Tennessee in the 2026 class. A 6-foot-9 forward, Washington is ranked No. 41 overall in the ESPN 100 and is considered one of the elite athletes in the country. He had planned visits to Auburn, Cincinnati, Florida A&M and Villanova, but ended his recruitment without taking those trips. Washington averaged 12.3 points and 7.4 rebounds on the UAA circuit this spring and summer, demonstrating a knack for making plays on the offensive glass and on the defensive end.
Bouie and Washington are the first two commitments in the class of 2026 for Alabama, which also hosted top-30 point guard Ikenna Alozie last weekend. The Crimson Tide are expecting a massive group of visitors this coming weekend, with top-15 prospects Caleb Holt, Dylan Mingo and Jaxon Richardson all scheduled to take trips to Tuscaloosa.
Oats has landed ranked recruiting classes in five straight years, finishing at No. 19 in 2025, No. 3 in 2024, No. 17 in 2023, No. 3 in 2022 and No. 10 in 2021. The Crimson Tide are currently one of just two programs in the country with multiple top-50 commitments at this point in the 2026 recruiting cycle.
