Mia Goth recalls first nerve-wracking meet with Christopher Nolan
Mia Goth opened up about her nerves during the first meeting with Christopher Nolan.
The Frankenstein actress is set to star in upcoming highly anticipated film The Odyssey, which follows the 10-year journey of King of Ithaca, Odysseus, after the Trojan War.
In recent podcast episode of Happy Sad Confused, the Pearl star admitted that during her audition for the Oscar winning director’s film, she felt sick from anxiety.
“I found out that Chris wanted to meet me. I remember driving over to Universal and being so nervous that I wanted to throw up,” Goth recalled.
The MaXXXine actress added, “I tried to tell myself what a privilege it is to even feel this, you know, you’re so nervous, you want to be sick. And then I went in there and did the audition and then I got the job.”
Describing the confidentiality of the film at that time, Goth said that she was given a “dummy” script for the audition and wasn’t allowed to know the character that she was playing.
“Then I found that I had to accept the job before I could even read the script and find out what the role was. So that was a new process,” she shared. “So I said, ‘Yeah, I’m in.’ And then they gave me the script.”
Goth will star as maid Melantho, who is disloyal to the household of Odysseus and is eventually punished for her treachery.
In addition to Goth, Anne Hathaway, Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson and many more are also included in the film.
The Odyssey is slated for release on July 17, 2026.

Chris Martin moves on from breakup headlines with wedding bliss
Chris Martin added music to the wedding bells in a surprise performance at a superfan’s wedding in Rugeley.
The 48-year-old musician was asked by the groom’s mother to send a video message congratulating the newlyweds, but the Coldplay frontman went an extra mile and attended the wedding himself.
The Yellow hitmaker surprised fans by playing the piano for the bride and groom’s first dance on Saturday night at Blithfield Lakeside Barns, in Staffordshire.
While the newlyweds were performing their first dance, Martin made a quiet entrance and began performing the song, All My Love.
Following the ceremony, Blithfield Lakeside Barns co-owner, Alex Brown, told StokeonTrentLive, that the Fix You singer was asked to send a message, but “Chris got back and said he could go one better.”
He went on to share that Martin said, “I’m free that night, so I’ll come and play the first dance. He didn’t want any introduction, so we said it was the first dance, and he walked in and performed. The bride and groom did know he was coming. It was kept as a surprise for the guests. I don’t think they realised it was him until the end.”
The venue officer heaped on praises for the award-winning singer to make the grand gesture for his fan, without taking away the spotlight from the couple.
This comes after Martin went viral for something quite the opposite, when he made headlines after exposing a couple who were cheating on their spouses earlier this year.

Cillian Murphy feels his time as ‘Tommy Shelby’ has not ended yet
Cillian Murphy will be returning as Tommy Shelby in the upcoming Netflix movie The Immortal Man.
The character was coined from the hit series Peaky Blinders in which the actor leads a gang in Birmingham.
Now the Peaky Blinders film will bring back Tommy to face his demons and reckon with his legacy.
The Immortal Man is expected to mark a significant end to the popular character; however, Cillian does not get that feeling as he was hoping to play the role for over a decade.
The film’s shoot has been wrapped up, but the Oppenheimer actor does not feel that his time as Tommy Shelby has come to an end.
He told Empire, “I don’t think I’m going to be able to process it or think about it until the film comes out, because I believe that a film isn’t finished until people look at it.”
While discussing how it felt like on the last day of filming, Murphy added that it was quite underwhelming as everyone drove away after the last shot.
He opened, “We were on the side of a hill in the Peak District somewhere, in the pissing rain, and we were losing the light.”
“So it was absolutely, completely underwhelming,” he added.
The much-anticipated Peaky Blinders movies is slated to release in March 2026.

George Clooney has a post-60 onscreen intimacy rule now
George Clooney is drawing a clear line when it comes to romance on screen, and it’s one he says comes with age, perspective, and an honest conversation at home.
The Oscar-winning actor has revealed that he no longer plans to film romantic scenes, especially those involving on-screen kissing, as he moves further into his 60s.
In a recent interview with the Daily Mail, Clooney explained that the decision followed a discussion with his wife, Amal Clooney, about getting older and what still feels appropriate for him as an actor.
“I’ve been trying to go the route Paul Newman did — ‘Okay, well, I’m not kissing a girl anymore,’” Clooney said.
The actor expanded on that moment, reflecting on how age changes priorities, even for someone who has stayed active and healthy.
“When I turned 60, I had a conversation with my wife. I said, ‘Look, I can still play basketball with the boys. I play with 25-year-old guys. I can still hang, I’m in shape. But in 25 years, I’m 85 years old. It doesn’t matter how many granola bars you eat, that’s a real number.’”
For decades, Clooney built a reputation as one of Hollywood’s most dependable romantic leads.
His filmography includes fan-favourite love stories such as One Fine Day, Out of Sight, Up in the Air, and Ticket to Paradise.
However, he has been signaling a shift away from that image for some time.
In March, Clooney told 60 Minutes that he had stepped back from romantic films altogether, saying, “Look, I’m 63 years old. I’m not trying to compete with 25-year-old leading men. That’s not my job. I’m not doing romantic films anymore.”
Looking back on his early career, Clooney has also spoken candidly about his comfort with intimacy on camera.
In a 2022 interview with The New York Times, he recalled being corrected by a director during a kissing scene.
“I remember early on in my career, I had to do a kissing scene with this girl and the director goes, ‘Not like that.’ And I was like, ‘Dude, that’s my move! That’s what I do in real life!’”
Now, Clooney appears comfortable turning the page, choosing roles that better reflect where he is in life, and leaving on-screen romance to a new generation.
