To beat ChatGPT and make it more personal, Amazon improving Alexa’s memory
In a bid to compete with the worldwide popular AI chatbot, ChatGPT, e-commerce juggernaut Amazon is reportedly improving Alexa’s capabilities by enabling it to remember details about users, like a close friend or family member does.
This vision for Alexa, Amazon’s homegrown virtual assistant, was constructed by Amazon executives during the annual Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2026) in Las Vegas earlier this month.
The company is refueling the excitement surrounding Alexa, which debuted in 2014 as a user-friendly voice assistant.
How Amazon’ss Alexa lost to ChatGPT in 2022
While the virtual assistan gained immense popularity and reinforced interest in voice technology, the launch of ChatGPT in 2022 changed that, compelling Amazon to rethink its strategy.
In 2023, Amazon announced plans to make Alexa a more personal and conversational assistant, following which it launched Alexa+ last year. But there’s a lack of a real testimony so far, and to do that, Amazon needs to show that Alexa+ dan deliver an improved experience compared to the standard version.
Panos Panay, Amazon’s devices and services chief, noted that while many users appreciate basic functions like turning on coffee makers, transformative experiences result from comprehensive contextual understanding.
The newly launched Alexa website imitates the interactive platforms developed by OpenAI and AI startup Perplexity, allowing users to chat with Alexa online and continue those conversations across devices.
How Alexa+ competes with ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini
Panay highlighted Alexa’s standout ability to remember user preferences and execute tasks in no time. For instance, when he asked about dog harnesses, Alexa had options ready on his Echo Show upon his return.
This personal touch sets Alexa apart from competitors like ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini.

How Taylor Swift ended up reuniting with ex John Mayer after public digs
Taylor Swift and John Mayer’s previous relationship resurfaced after they recently came face to face at Paul McCartney’s concert, years after their messy breakup.
The 36-year-old pop superstar and Mayer, 48, were both spotted at the Fonda Theatre in Hollywood in pictures posted on celebrity gossip accounts on social media.
While it’s unclear if the former couple interacted, the Saturday concert outing marked their first time attending the same event ever since they broke up in 2010.
The 14-time-Grammy winner was seen talking to Olivia Rodrigo in the pictures, and her pal Sabrina Carpenter was also in attendance at the event.
Swift and Mayer also used different exits as they left the concert separately.
The Gravity hitmaker and the Eras Tour performer had a difficult break up at the time, with Swift releasing Dear John allegedly about their age-gap relationship.
After the song was released and Mayer landed in backlash, he discussed how it negatively impacted him, telling Rolling Stone, “I’m pretty good at taking accountability now, and I never did anything to deserve that. It was a really lousy thing for her to do.”
The Opalite hitmaker slammed Mayer’s claims the same year, saying it was “presumptuous” of him to believe she wrote the song about him.

The former TOWIE star, who is a mum to daughters Sunday, eight, and Finty, two, recently shared a photo of herself, showing off her physique in before and after images, revealing the secrets behind her weight loss.
The clip began with her displaying her post-baby body in a string two-piece shortly after giving birth to her youngest daughter Finty, two.
Revealing the secret behind her weight loss, she insisted that it ‘wasn’t anything drastic’, but was the result of changing up her dietary habits.
The reality star said she made sure to stay in a calorie deficit and got enough protein, while also drinking up to 3 litres of water daily, emphasising that ‘consistency’ was the key.
Ferne penned: ‘The things that actually changed my body shape and helped me lose weight… It wasn’t anything drastic.
‘It was: Following a simple nutrition plan. Sticking to my breakfast meal replacement shake (high nutrition, low calories). Drinking 2–3L of water a day.
‘Staying in a calorie deficit. Hitting my protein target. Daily movement. Accountability (this is a big one!!! being surrounded by women doing the same as you).’
‘Nothing extreme. Nothing restrictive. Just consistency with the basics… and that’s where the results come from’, she concluded.

Royal family ‘hides’ senior member cancer struggles: Shocking details out
Royal family maintained silence over the cancer struggles of a senior member as new, surprising details emerged.
An author, Hugo Vickers, talked about the royal figure’s health scare that was not disclosed by the firm at the time of his death.
The royal commentator wrote that Queen Elizabeth II had been informed that Prince Philip had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer eight years before his death.
At the age of 91, the Duke of Edinburgh’s medical team shared with the royals about his inoperable form of the disease in June 2013.
Following the diagnosis, “there was a view that [Philip] might not be seen in public again”, but “the duke outwitted the pessimists,” Hugo shared, as per The Times.
The royal expert opened up about Prince Philip’s last days of life, stating there were “moments of tranquillity.”
“On the last night of his life, he gave his nurses the slip, shuffled along the corridor on his Zimmer frame, helped himself to a beer and drank it in the Oak Room,” he penned.
Hugo added, “The following morning, he got up, had a bath, said he did not feel well and quietly slipped away. By this point, he had lived with pancreatic cancer for nearly eight years — far longer than the usual survival time from diagnosis.”
It is important to mention that the Queen was not with her husband when he passed away.
For the unversed, Prince Philip passed away in Windsor Castle in 2021 just before his 100th birthday.
As per the death certificate, his cause of death was mentioned as “old age,” hinting that the Palace wanted to keep it a secret.
The cancer shock returned in the royal family after King Charles and Princess Kate were diagnosed with the disease in 2024.
Catherine is in remission from cancer after completing her preventive chemotherapy. Whereas the monarch is still undergoing cancer treatment.
