What US airports are cutting flights? Full list of 40 hubs amid FAA cuts
U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has imposed a 10% reduction in flights at 40 of the nation’s busiest airports starting Friday, November 7.
The decision was announced by Transportation Secretary Sean Dufffy as a necessary step to maintain safety, as air traffic controllers are forced to work without their pay which causes widespread chaos and shortages in staff causing major flight delays.
FAA Administrator Bryan Bedford stated at a press conference, “We are seeing pressures build in a way that we don’t feel will allow us to continue to tell the public that we operate the safest airline system in the world.”
The cuts will be implemented in phases starting with 4% reduction on Friday, November 7, then 5% on Saturday, November 8, and 6% on Sunday, November 9.
It is forecasted that a complete 10% cut will be imposed next week. The move aims to minimize pressure on air traffic controllers on “high volume” airports as the workers will be missing their second paycheck since the shutdown began 36 days ago.

Airport scrambles, offer refunds
The announcement sent airlines scrambling to adjust their schedules within 36 hours. As notice circulated, airlines announced their strategies to combat the ongoing situation.
United Airlines CEO Scott Kirby stated that the carrier will spare long-haul international flights and will rather focus on regional flying and non-hub domestic routes.
“United’s long-haul international flying and our hub-to-hub flying will not be impacted by this schedule reduction direction from the FAA. That’s important to maintain the integrity of our network, give impacted customers as many options as possible to resume their trip, and sustain our crew pairing systems,” he stated in a memo.
“Instead, we will focus our schedule reductions on regional flying and domestic mainline flights that do not travel between our hubs,” he added.
The airline also offered refunds for its customers stating “any customer traveling during this period is eligible for a refund if they do not wish to fly – even if their flight isn’t impacted. That includes non-refundable tickets and those customers with basic economy tickets.”
American Airlines stated that it expects the “vast majority” of its customers’ travel to be unaffected.
Southwest Airlines said it was evaluating the impact and would communicate with customers directly, while also urging Congress to “immediately resolve its impasse.”

‘I’m hanging on by a thread’
Bijou Phillips is facing one of the toughest battles of her life.
In a rare and emotional interview, the 45-year-old model and actress revealed she is “hanging on by a thread” as her urgent search for a kidney donor continues.
Phillips, who is currently undergoing dialysis at UCLA Health’s CORE Kidney program, admitted she has been waiting for a transplant for over a year.
“I’ve needed a transplant for a year. I’m sort of hanging on by a thread,” she told Us Weekly.
Born with underdeveloped kidneys, Phillips previously received a life-saving transplant from a friend in 2017.
But nearly a decade later, that kidney is failing.
“The medication you take when you’re transplanted is very toxic to the kidneys,” she explained.
“So when you get a transplant — heart or liver or kidney — within a decade, you’re probably going to need a kidney transplant.”
The Almost Famous star acknowledged the precariousness of her situation. “I could make it on dialysis for a couple of years, or I could get an infection in my line tomorrow and be gone in a few days,” she said.
“I’m really hopeful, [but] it’s an extremely urgent situation.”
Beyond her own health, Phillips says her fight is fueled by her devotion to her 12-year-old daughter, Fianna, whom she shares with ex-husband Danny Masterson.
“Now I’m a single mom, and things are different,” she said. “I want to be here for her, and I have to be here for her. The fight is back. I’m it. I’m all she’s got.”

Netflix set to release new show following ex-Prince Andrew arrest
Ex-Prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor is at the center of Hollywood’s latest race for royal drama.
Netflix is reportedly considering reviving The Crown for a limited series chronicling his downfall following his arrest in connection with Jeffrey Epstein.
The former Duke of York was arrested on February 19, his 66th birthday, on suspicion of misconduct in public office after allegedly forwarding confidential trade documents to Epstein.
His arrest, described as “historic and unprecedented” by insiders, has sparked fierce competition among studios to dramatize the scandal.
According to sources to Daily Mail, Netflix and The Crown producers Left Bank Pictures have been in “advanced talks” about creating one-off specials under the show’s banner.
Insider described the potential saga as “as dramatic, if not more dramatic” than the abdication of Edward VIII or Princess Diana’s death, both previously covered in the original series.
Disney Studios and Amazon MGM are also circling the story.
“We have been bombarded with screenwriters wanting to bring this story to us. The race is on in Hollywood to be the first studio to bring out an Andrew film,” a Disney source told the outlet.
Screenwriter Jeremy Brock, who penned Amazon MGM’s A Very Royal Scandal, echoed the sentiment.
He told the outlet both Netflix and Amazon are “100 percent” in talks to make a drama based on the scandal.
Royal Fallout
King Charles has issued a statement expressing his “deepest concern,” stressing that “the law must take its course.”
Meanwhile, the British government is debating legislation that could remove Andrew from the royal line of succession.
