Prince William and Princess Kate offered fans a lively glimpse into the rich story behind Borough Market with guide Bowl of Chalk. 

Their caption shared on Instagram reflected on the site’s rich past, noting that the market dates back to the 13th century and was granted a Royal Charter by King Edward VI in 1550 that still resonates today.

The clip opened by taking viewers back centuries, tracing the market’s origins and celebrating how the bustling Southwark landmark has grown into one of London’s most beloved food destinations. 

Sweeping shots captured colourful produce displays, sizzling street food and the buzz of visitors weaving through its narrow lanes.

Highlights of the market’s many stalls flashed across the screen, showing why the historic spot draws food lovers from across the globe. 

Today, more than 100 independent traders operate within the market, offering everything from artisan cheese and baked treats to international dishes that reflect London’s diverse culinary scene.

The video also touched on a key milestone in the market’s revival 28 years ago, when the area was transformed into the thriving community hub it is today. 

Profits generated through its operations are used to support community projects, including initiatives that help people experiencing homelessness rebuild their lives.

Crowds gathered as the Prince and Princess moved between stalls, chatting with traders and sampling local favourites. 

At Humble Crumble, Catherine served up portions of the TikTok-famous crumble, while the pair also stopped by the stand run by artisan cheesemakers Trethowan Brothers.

The Princess stepped behind the counter at Change Please, a project supported through William’s Homewards campaign. 

She prepared a cappuccino for her husband but opted not to sample the beers on offer during the visit, explaining she has significantly reduced alcohol since her recent cancer diagnosis.

Meanwhile, William happily stepped nearby Bermondsey Beer Mile. 

Kate joined him at the brewhouse kettle, giving the mixture a careful stir before breaking into laughter.

Ballerina Misty Copeland says actor Timothée Chalamet “wouldn’t be an actor and have the opportunities he has as a movie star” if it were not for ballet or opera.

The first Black female principal dancer for the American Ballet Theater fired back at the actor’s recent comments made during a town hall last month with fellow actor Matthew McConaughey. The two were discussing keeping movie theaters alive when Chalamet appeared to dismiss the significance of ballet and opera, saying, “No one cares.”

“I don’t want to be working in ballet, or opera, or things where it’s like, ‘Hey, keep this thing alive, even though no one cares about this anymore.’ All respect to all the ballet and opera people out there. I just lost 14 cents in viewership.”

Copeland said the actor should be uplifting all art forms instead of comparing them.

“There’s a reason that the opera and ballet have been around over 400 years,” Copeland said. “And I think that when you have access, you have opportunity to be a part of something, it can change your life.”

She also noted the irony that she helped market Chalamet’s latest film, for which he is nominated for an Oscar, by posing in a “Marty Supreme” branded jacket.

“First, I have to say that it’s very interesting that he invited me to be a part of promoting ‘Marty Supreme’ with respect to my art form,” she said.

More backlash

Copeland isn’t the only one to slam Chalamet, with critics noting both his mother and sister studied at the School of American Ballet. 

The Metropolitan Opera posted a behind-the-scenes video of what goes into its productions with the caption, “This one’s for you @tchalamet.”

Last weekend, the Seattle Opera offered a 14% discount with the code “Timothee.”

Chalamet’s spokesperson did not return CBS News’ request for comment.

Conan O’Brien is getting ready to host the Oscars again and he says that it’s a tricky job.

The 62-year-old host called it “walking a very thin line” because he got to make people laugh while thinking about what is going on in the world today.

He added shared he wants the Oscars to be fun and exciting but at the same time still connected to real life outside Hollywood.

The comedian explained that political jokes have to feel natural and if a joke feels forced, he prefers not to say it.

The TV star done political comedy before on late-night TV and at events like the White House Correspondents’ Dinner but he said that politics has never been the main thing he jokes about.

Conan likes to stick to lines that feel real and skip the ones that don’t.

The former SNL star also went on to add that today’s political news makes it harder to be funny because real life can already seem so extreme.

Still, Conan believes that comedy can bring people together and he pointed to old Oscars hosts like Johnny Carson who used jokes about real events to connect with the audience.

O’Brien first hosted the Oscars in 2025 and got good some reviews form people so this year, he now hopes to do even better with his talent and to make people laugh and celebrate movies.
