HEC revamps degree attestation system with fully online, paperless process
- Applicants no longer required to visit HEC offices physically.
- e-Attestation system ensures secure document verification.
- Applications submitted 24/7 via HEC e-services portal.
Higher Education Commission (HEC) Chairman Niaz Ahmad Akhtar on Monday announced a comprehensive upgrade to the Degree Attestation System (DAS), introducing a fully online and paperless mechanism aimed at modernising verification services for students and graduates across Pakistan.
In a post on X, Akhtar said the new system eliminates the need for applicants to physically visit HEC offices or submit original documents, as the entire process has now been digitised to enhance ease and accessibility.
He further explained that the newly introduced “e-Attestation Certificate System” is designed to offer a secure, efficient, and user-friendly experience, with online verification of attested documents and certificates available across all relevant institutions.
According to the commission, the upgraded online DAS will be formally launched and become effective from May 11, with complete details available on its official website.
- Applications can be submitted 24/7 through the online portal www.eservices.hec.gov.pk.
- Candidates apply by creating an account and providing personal and academic details.
- Applicants can upload transcripts online for HEC scrutiny and university-level verification of credentials.
- Payment is made online through the 1-Link payment system.
- An e-attestation certificate is issued for the submitted documents after final review.
- Applicants will receive notifications via SMS and email upon completion of the process.
- The verifiable certificate can also be downloaded directly from the HEC online portal account.
Separately, it emerged in April that the commission was preparing to introduce a fully digital degree attestation system based on a blockchain-enabled platform, allowing students and graduates to submit requests and track their applications.
The higher education regulator had signed an agreement with CMPak and its joint venture partner Wibbow Technologies to develop the platform, which is particularly aimed at facilitating applicants living outside major cities or applying from abroad.

Prince William backs Villa at James’ Place as Istanbul final plans loom
Prince William paid a subtle but unmistakable tribute to his beloved Aston Villa during a visit in Birmingham.
The Prince of Wales was seen wearing a light blue shirt paired with a claret tie, a clear nod to Aston Villa’s colours, just days after the club’s impressive UEFA Europa League semi-final victory over Nottingham Forest at Villa Park.
William was present at the match on Thursday night, cheering from the stands as Unai Emery’s side secured a memorable result.
Following the final whistle, Emery revealed that the royal visitor even made his way into the dressing room to congratulate the players in person.
“He was in the dressing room with the players and with me, and of course, he is so happy as well,” the Villa manager said.
The Prince’s long-standing affection for the club has become increasingly visible in recent years, with BBC Royal correspondent Daniela Relph noting that his allegiance is now firmly established in public life.
While she suggested his future role as King will bring more restrictions, she added that his support for Aston Villa is unlikely to fade.
“He won’t be a matchday regular, but in the big moments, the crucial games, he will be there,” she said.
William, who is patron of the Football Association, has long balanced his royal duties with his passion for football.
Reports also suggest he may travel to the United States this summer for the World Cup, hosted jointly by the US, Canada and Mexico.
Born just weeks after Aston Villa’s historic European Cup win in 1982, the Prince’s connection to the club carries a symbolic link to one of its greatest triumphs.
There is also speculation over whether he might travel to Istanbul for a major upcoming final later this month.
Beyond football, Monday’s visit carried a deeper focus. At the opening of the new James’ Place centre in Birmingham, Prince William highlighted the importance of mental health support for men in crisis.
The charity provides free, life-saving therapy for men experiencing suicidal thoughts and is part of a growing national effort to tackle suicide prevention.
In October 2025, James’ Place became one of the founding partners of the National Suicide Prevention Network, launched by The Royal Foundation of the Prince and Princess of Wales alongside organisations including Papyrus, MindOUT and the National Suicide Prevention Aliance.

WHCD shooting suspect pleads ‘not guilty’ to attempted assassination of Trump
Cole Allen, the alleged shooter at the White House Correspondents Dinner (WHCD), has pleaded not guilty to all charges, including the one related to the attempted assassination of the U.S. President Donald Trump.
During his court hearing on Monday, the 31-year-old suspect did not talk to the court as his attorney Tezira Abe entered the plea on his behalf. During the previous hearing, a different judge apologised to Allen over jail conditions.
Prosecutors accused Allen of firing a shotgun at the U.S. Secret Service agent, storming a checkpoint with the intention to harm President Trump and his administration officials.
The charges brought against the suspect include:
- Attempted assassination of the president
- Assault on a federal officer
- Firearm offences
In addition to the ongoing case, Allen is trying to get the acting Attorney General Todd Blanche and U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro recused or disqualified from the case because they were present at the dinner, which might affect their judgement regarding the case.
His lawyer Eugene Ohm said, “It is wholly inappropriate for victims of an alleged event like this to be individually prosecuting the case.”
According to reports, Allen travelled to Washington via train carrying various weapons and booked a room in the Washington Hilton where the dinner was happening.
The videos from the incident shows the suspect running through the security checkpoint while simultaneously firing at a secret service agent. He was later subdued and arrested by officials. The dinner was cancelled, which President Trump announced will be rescheduled shortly.
This was the first time that Trump accepted the invitation from White House Correspondents’ Association (WHCA) to participate in the dinner during both of his terms.

Urgent meeting held at Palace
Andrew has been left devastated by the latest incident that caused major trouble for the royal family amid his security talks.
The 66-year-old former prince was allegedly horrified by the masked-man threat, which raised eyebrows among concerns about his security.
However, experts warn that enhanced security will spark backlash from Britons, who have already mounted pressure on the King and the royal family to take decisive steps against the disgraced royal even though the monarch has already stripped him of his royal tiles and patronages.
His exit from the royal lodge has, somehow, sparked a serious security threat for the former Duke of York.
Norfolk Police arrested Alex Jenkinson, 39, who has since been charged and pleaded not guilty to harassment offences.
Alex Jenkinson, aged 39 and of Stowmarket, Suffolk has since been charged with two counts of using threatening, abusive or insulting words, according to the officials.
A royal expert has explained andrew’s situation after the latest breach, saying: “The recent scary masked man confrontation has left him shaken and worried for his safety.”
The unexpected situation has caused urgent meeting at the Palace surrounding Andrew’s security.
“There are rumours he wants his old security back, although he was unscathed,” British broadcaster and photographer Helena Chard told Fox News Digital.
His private protection officer dealt with the confrontation and aftermath. There are also fences, CCTV, and a security gate installed at Sarah Ferguson’s ex-husband’s property to keep him safe.
Royal broadcaster Ian Pelham Turner rvealed the outlet that the monarch “partly funds his private security team.”
It was lucky that “one of his paid-for private security team was with him” at the time of the incident, arguing that the security team “may have to be increased to strengthen his safety.”
“Personally, every citizen in Britain should feel safe and protected, especially highly well-known figures, and so Andrew should be given more protection, otherwise more attempts could be made on his life, which would cause distress and disarray within the royal family,” he said.
However Fordwihich beleives, “This is totally to be expected because the public is absolutely disgusted regarding his despicable behavior.”
“Instead of wanting more security, he should really stay in sort of a house arrest just keep to himself and not even go out. Then he wouldn’t have to face the public or have these worries. That would be the decent thing to do, but he’s not renowned for doing decent things.”
Chard conceded that “Andrew’s Epstein ties, arrest and police investigation have made him a target,” but said that “many believe he is privately more than adequately protected.”
Reviewing Pricnesses Beatrice and Eugenie’s security is one thing, but talk of reinstating Met Police armed protection is already sparking public backlash, and understandably so, according to Chard.
“Realistically, his security status won’t change. That ship has sailed. And if it did, the public and Prince Harry would almost certainly have something to say about it. The security debate will come up from time to time. Andrew will continue to sleep with one eye open,” claimed expert.
